Is New Hampshire the end for Joe Biden?
The Week via Yahoo! News ^ | February 10, 2020 | by Joel Mathis

It sure looks as though the end is near for Joe Biden's latest presidential campaign.

Forecasting the future in politics these days is a fool's game -- as Washington Post media columnist Margaret Sullivan noted on Saturday, journalists are "bad at predictions." So here is a caveat: It is still early in the primary process, there is no clear front-runner, and anything could happen.

Still, Biden gave off the distinct odor of flop sweat over the weekend.

At Friday's Democratic presidential debate, he conceded he is unlikely to win this week's New Hampshire primary. That, in turn, led some of his staffers in the state to all but abandon the campaign. "I can't give up 12 hours of my time - I'm a busy person myself - if he doesn't think it'll make a difference," one volunteer told Politico.

Maybe the former vice president will actually be president by this time next year. But he won't earn the office campaigning the way he has been. To have a chance at a clean slate — and to turn the campaign around — Biden and his advisers are going to have to confront three big issues.

First, there is no such thing as inevitability. That's a lesson candidates should have learned in 2016.

Second, it's tough to build a winning campaign on a rationale that everybody knows is false. Biden has marketed his potential presidency as a return to prelapsarian America, a time before President Trump when senators of both parties could knock the hell out of each other during the day, go get beers after work, and then hash out a deal the next day that everybody could live with.

The third issue may be insurmountable.

I sure hope so. And I hope the rest of his numbered days are filled up with legal problems and great expense as lawyers suck money out of his pockets trying to keep his half-dead-already carcass out of prison.

Enjoy the ride down, Joe!

Let’s hope not! The more of them still in the race, the more attacks and chaos.

I would think he’d hang on through Super Tuesday.

Say it ain’t so, Joe. We’ll miss those gaffes. Calling people (potential voters) names. Sniffing and groping women in public (now it’ll all be in private).

If Biden has a terrible performance there, he’s done. But afterwards, I do have concerns about Bernie Sanders, given the fact he already had a heart attack and now at increased risk of a second one.

It should be. But probably won’t be.

Nope. They’re still pimping him for his comeback in Nevada and South Carolina.

I think the Dems know they are toast when it comes to the presidential election. They’re just trying to find someone strong enough to help them keep the House.

Biden is toast. He’s going to lose all 4 early primaries and his entire selling point was he was the inevitable nominee.

When his comments on any given day are the best ads against him, its pretty tough to win.

But if Bernie gets 25% or more he’s on track to be the nominee.

Could there be an easier opponent than Bernie?

Hopefully....

Even CNN reported that he’s essentially out of money which is almost hard to imagine. That would mean it’s Bernie or Butty assuming Bloomberg doesn’t rally on Super T.

In general, I think you’re right, but in this particular case the one good thing about having Quid Pro Joe drop out is it might be easier for the Trump administration to go after Hunter, since they can’t be accused of “interfering with a campaign”.

And I think it’s absolutely essential to go after Hunter as soon as possible. The fastest and best way to completely clear Trump’s name.

No, Biden will want to see the results of South Carolina, if he does poorly there then it will be over.

NH will effectively be the end of the road for Warren as it is a contiguous state where she needs to come in at least second, and she won’t.

It is all ready over for Gabbard, Steyer and Yang, they are out as of tomorrow.

As for mini mike, he’ll keep himself in by spending millions until Super Tuesday when he will be out after spending hundreds of millions and resonating like the unlikeable zero he is.

At some point Biden will get desperate and may start using information that he gained as VP to attack his opponents and that will raise some eyebrows.

I don’t see how ANY candidate could survive calling a voter a “dog faced liar”.

any honorable candidate would voluntarily withdraw after saying something like that.

I hope you’re right about the minimike golum but I worry that his money will buy him a ride on the clown car, in a first-class seat.
