I guess this means a virus with a 2% death rate that very few have been exposed to is no threat to anyone.
Even though its R naught is over 2. And nobody has shown an ability to even slow it down. Even with draconian measures.
Yeah, no worries.
This story is written by and for the arithmetically challenged. If you dont already know why, no explanation will help you. Youre better off just buying a lottery ticket than trying to understand why comparing total number dead this year from flu and total number dead this year from CoV is a 3rd grade arithmetic error. But dont worry, you will win the lottery.
Well then put all the flu in China and quarantine them.
There is nothing we can do about the flu that we aren’t already doing.
But we have a chance to stop the spread of Coronavirus or at least slow it down, until we have a better handle on treating it. Maybe delay it until summer and maybe it will largely die off on it’s own.
Yeah only killed 565 in all of China. If thats so why cant crematoriums keep up with the disposals of bodies? They only have 1 in china? I see doctors with masks on treating people for the flu. Have yet to see them in bio hazard suits and resperators . Also have yet to see airlins stop service to Cleveland or Pittsburgh for the flu. This whole thing is one big Chicom lie. Its a bio-chemical weapon that got loose, and i wager just like their lie on how many Mao kiiled in the Great Leap Forward where he starved 65 million to death. No saying the count is that high, but it sure as hell ain 565!
I’m more worried about the hysteria that’s developing.
Idiotic article.
The only reason that Coronavirus has not spread rapidly in the US so far is due to Trump’s decisive action in banning all Chinese visitors and travellers to the USA.
Remember during Obama, there were still direct flights from Liberia to the US during the peak of the Ebola crisis as he was playing PC politics on health matters.
Trump bypassed the WHO and its third world doctors and acted decisively.
Gee, why then arent 150 million people on quarantine over the regular ol flu?
So - for all the Einsteins comparing this to the flu - it would be like there being 640 deaths from the flu by the second week in November.
Well - by the second week in November of this past year - which is a terrible flu season - the CDC had only 2,091 positive flu tests. There were THREE deaths.
So - let us compare where we are NOW - which would be Week 45 of the CDC report (NOV 9th) - starting off on EQUAL dates (making this apples to apples and not apples to oranges):
The FLU: Cases: 2,091 /// Deaths: 3
CV: 31,472 /// Deaths: 638 - and that is IF the Chinese numbers are correct...
Yeah - The Flu is MUCH worse #sarcasm
**An estimated 19 million Americans have been infected with the flu so far this season, and 180,000 of them have been hospitalized because of the illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The flu virus has already killed an estimated 10,000 people across the U.S., including 68 children, according to the CDC. In fact, the 2019-2020 flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst in years. **
Interesting comparison.
Tencent leaked numbers from a week ago put Wusan only deaths at over 24,000 out of a population of 11 million - for the other 40 million under quarantine, there are no numbers

Simply running the numbers given...
Flu death rate = 180,000/19,000,000 = 0.00947368421053
coronavirus death rate = 565/28,000 = 0.0201785714286
Applying coronavirus rate to those who contracted the flu = 0.0201785714286*19,000,000 = 383,393
Applying flu rate to coronavirus = 0.00947368421053*28,000 = 265
So yes, coronavirus is more deadly of the two (at least from recorded rates), but it hardly compares against some historical pandemics. It makes sense to take precautions, but the same goes for the flu for those without robust immune systems. It wouldn’t appear that coronavirus is even a full order of magnitude worse than flu.

flu and other illnesses hit the frail elderly and the chronically sick the hardest...if it wasn't the flu, it would be something else.....
sure, some younger people get hit by it as well but I would bet that the vast majority have underling disease or other health issues.....
I can attest that almost all the flu admissions to our hospital have not been that sick....many of them get admitted from the nursing home and they won't take them back until they finish their Tamiflu so they sit in their private rooms and get a pill twice a day....
memento mori......
