Content and philosophy aside, I marvel at the sheer literary potency of this writing:

Sacrifice is the cement which unites human bricks into the great edifice of society.

Who uses metaphors so powerfully and so evocatively today?

Electricity cost about 8 to 10 times as much as natural gas

Good luck with that and cooking as well

To: technically right

Boris has his charms but he’s infamous for having flipped his positions to match his ambitions.

Some time ago he went from man-made climate change skeptic to all in on fighting it—though strikingly Corbin slapped him about this week on not going still further on it.

Okay dumb schiff, what is cheaper and cleaner to produce/use, gas or electricity using gas?

This is a simple question with simple answer that liberals and eco freaks cannot grasp

“Or, the plan is to thin the herd during the grand solar minimum. That’s more a Soros like solution.”

Absolutely. Everything they do is based on this ever present underlying end goal. All they have to do is flip off the switch.

No kidding.

I have posted this graph a few times on FR over the last 5-10 years about the stupidity of the ban on incandescent light bulbs, but it illustrates your point quite well:

That big gray pipe of "Rejected Energy" is largely energy lost in transmission (from the Electricity Generation pipe at least) Amazing.

“I predict the comeback of the bicycle .... and horse and buggy....”

Yep... It will throw everyone back to the pre-electric peroid, may as well just flip off the switch and be done with it. The end result will be the same.

And it is proposing that owners of electric cars charge them through the night when power is cheap and then sell it back to the national grid at a higher price at peak periods.

As a result, the embedded power stored in the cars’ batteries will reduce the need to build new gas-fired power stations.

This is stupid on so many levels.

The reason power is cheaper at night is that demand is lower. They want to increase demand at night and don't realize that the reason for lower cost will then be gone.

So, this fanciful scheme of selling power back to the grid is doomed to failure.

And why do people charge their cars? Oh yeah, that's so they can actually use them.

Fact of life with rechargeable batteries...the more times you charge and discharge them, the less charge they will hold, and the inevitable hugely expensive replacement will have to happen that much sooner.

And who believes that the car owners will actually be paid when they "sell" power to the grid?

I hate reading Ayn Rand excerpts that closely parallel what we see today. I once read a line by Ann Coulter (I know she is persona non grata around here now, but I thought this was fitting) where she was talking about Neville Chamberlain and his policy of appeasement, and she said:

"Democrats are on the precipice of securing their reputation as the Chamberlains of our time. In fact, today's appeasers are worse than Neville Chamberlain: Chamberlain didn't have himself as an example."

One could almost (almost!) forgive Leftists both here and abroad for their embrace of socialist central planning by blaming it on naivete or ignorance, but they have a host of examples on why it doesn't work, never mind people like Ayn Rand who spelled it out for them in the format of a novel...

Ah ,if everybody started charging their cars at night wouldn’t that cause peak periods at night?

I guess the carbon lobby is more powerful than the bird lobby.

Close call. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is Europe's largest (and richest) wildlife conservation charity. 1300 staff, 18000 volunteers and over 1 million members.

"Privations strengthen a people's spirit," wrote Bertram Scudder, wrote Bertram Scudder, "and forge the fine steel of social discipline. Sacrifice is the cement which unites human bricks into the great edifice of society."

"You know, it's funny. Sometimes American journalists talk about how bad a country is when people are lining up for food. That's a good thing. In other countries, people don't line up for food. The rich get the food and the poor starve to death." stated Bernie Sanders, Socialist senator currently leading in the democrat primaries to run for President of the United States. Yes, Bernie, who honeymooned in the communist USSR, a perfect example of your quote would be communist North Korea

"Economists agree that unemployment benefits remain one of the best ways to grow the economy in a very immediate way." Nancy Pelosi, current democrat Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The people leading the dems are trying to run America off a cliff. Rand was precient.
