So how do they plan on creating all this electricity they intend to consume.

Beyond stupid, this is insane! Using electricity to heat homes? Power plants are about 20 percent efficient. The rest of the energy is waste heat. At least with gas heating most of the energy actually goes into heating the home.

I like it. Supply and demand. Them using less Natural Gas will keep prices lower here in the good old U S of A. That’s good for me!

The UK had central heating in Roman times only, and then got it back in the 50s... now the UK is going to go back again to the dark ages freezing because some underage brat from Sweden was used as accuser in a witch hunt

Dark ages it is, and what is aggravating is when you have relatives or coworkers who live with this Earth flatter vicious prosecutorial mentality of nuts. (Yes because like for observation of celestial object, they all indicate they are round and warming because of the sun and not because of man made effect)

The question is what energy source will they use to generate electricity. If they use natural gas like America does they are going to have to use 4 times as much to get the same heating a home gas heater would have done.

Exactly. When your phone tells the parliament that you and your soccer mates all decided youre going “hoodling” about London and protesting over crippling taxes then you will be trapped at home. They don’t have to put in roadblocks or anything else. Try to run because that car isn’t getting you to the countryside when they come looking for you.

Now here is a recipe for disaster.

A wet dream of epic proportions.

What would be the’line loss’ on all the up and down conversions?

And riping out gas central heating?

In a cold month in northern Illinois I use 300 therms of gas.(30 million Btu/hr)
1 Watt `3.4 Btu/hr
~12,000 W/hr
For that, I would need an additional 100 Amps of service!!!

That will not be cheap!

I was thinking about that. It seems they would have a better chance of bringing Scotland along if they worked out a deal on the Scots coal/oil. More reliable independence for both and Scotland could get some people off of welfare.

If BoJo goes along with this folley, the Brits will de-industrialize, and the socialists will roar back into power by promising phony solutions. Maybe he’d listen to Trump and go for growth and prosperity instead.

The rations of coal, established by Wesley Mouch, permitted the heating of homes for three hours a day. There was no wood to burn, no metal to make new stoves, no tools to pierce the walls of the houses for new installations. In makeshift contraptions of bricks and oil cans, professors were burning the books of their libraries, and fruit-growers were burning the trees of their orchards. "Privations strengthen a people's spirit," wrote Bertram Scudder, "and forge the fine steel of social discipline. Sacrifice is the cement which unites human bricks into the great edifice of society."

Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, Part II ("Either-Or"), Chapter V ("Account Overdrawn"), page 498.

while they’re at it, they should also pull out all of that indoor plumbing too, nasty, racist, elitist, looking down their narrow Caucasian Noses at the third world while sitting on a vitreous china modern convenience, disease containing white technology mocking the natural world.

Boris Johnson makes the Democrats (of 2008) look sane. Brexit apart, there’s something not right with today’s Tory leadership.

And it is proposing that owners of electric cars charge them through the night when power is cheap and then sell it back to the national grid at a higher price at peak periods.
.
As a result, the embedded power stored in the cars’ batteries will reduce the need to build new gas-fired power stations.

Why, that's sheer GENIUS!!!!

“The radical scheme to ‘greenwire’ Britain will be built around plans for a four-fold increase in electricity from wind farms around the coast. “

Good luck with that. How many acres more of turbines do you need? I guess the carbon lobby is more powerful than the bird lobby.
