You would think. The Medical Literature doesn’t support that asertion.

There is no reason to not get a low dose CT scan and make a decision after you have info. Doc, all info is good. But you don’t believe that do you?

Most doctors in this country don’t know HOW to practice “Preventive Medicine”.

Read up on “satellite DNA”.

It is up to the individual to make the decision. Doctors are reactive not proactive. Like cops, when you need one right this second they are minutes away.

...reacting on visual cues only.

I have been slowly going deaf for several years.

It's a combination of Menieres Disease, loud noise effect and a degradation of certain nerves.

Little helps...although amplification (aids) provides some help, but for every hour of wearing any amplification device, I pay for it with three hours of other symptoms such as tinnitus, a sense of pressure in the ears and random volume changes.

Having said that, to make my point, I have learned to react on certain noises and from visual clues.

There is a certain amount of "delay", for want of a better word and I'm certain that's what Rush was experiencing last night.

Unaided, everything to me sounds like a bee hive on steroids, with the screeching of a Barbra Streisand thrown in.

Aided, as Rush is (he wears a conduction device), speech is heard, but the presence of other background noise can thoroughly confuse one.

So, over the years, I have learned to read lips, to key in on certain sounds of the human voice and to watch the mannerisms of those around me.

It's still frustrating as hell, but it works, although obvious to others around that there is a problem.

I have also taken note of the fact that when I do read lips and facial mannerisms, it makes the person uncomfortable, so I always make sure they know what I'm doing.

So I certainly know what Rush experiences and I'm certain that he was profoundly affected by last nights events, even if it did take a few seconds for him to catch up.

Of course, the stinking lib rats will insist that he was drunk, drugged or stupid.

I've learned to ignore them, also...as I'm sure Rush has a long time ago.

Actually, sometimes some info is bad. Remember my story of my 80 year old lady yesterday?

It’s the level of background noise that gets him. All the applause, etc. meant he wasn’t hearing anything. Rush talks about and describes this limitation all the time.

...and if I was going to get a CT I would get Three Per Year, like they did in the study.

Only some of us have satellite TV in our homes, but all of us have satellite DNA in cells in our bodies. Working copies of satellite DNA (called satellite RNAs) are high in certain types of cancer, such as breast and ovarian. But whether they cause cancer or merely coincide with it has been unclear.

I heard that for most cancers stage 1 can last for years.

Why would anyone believe anything you say?

He said he first noticed the shortness of breath in mid January and was diagnosed on the 22nd, I believe.

We do the best we can, the same as engineers or physicists. We muddle along until there is a quantum breakthrough. If the news is correct and there is a new cure for lung cancer all the controversies go away.

Looking at subtypes of lung cancer when estimating prognosis can't be understated. For example, a December 2018 study found that people who had ALK positive stage 4 lung cancer had a median survival rate of 6.8 years with the right care, even when brain metastases were present.

This should have been post #1.

To understand how to practice “Preventive Medicine” one first must have a thorough understanding of “Medical Screening” which very few people have. “Testing Asymptomatic People” is sort of the heart of “Preventive Medicine.

Rush recently re-upped for several more years. His franchise owners routinely put him through a thorough exam before committing to a mult-year mega million contract. I doubt seriously if they ignored a lung X-ray for an avowed cigar smoker.

Bottom line, I suspect it’s a fairly recent, and hopefully minor stage 4....or as minor as stage 4 can be. Transplant / partial removal will also be considered, depending upon any spread.
