If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, one of the first questions that comes to mind may be, "What is stage 4 lung cancer life expectancy?" While cancers that are stage 4 have the reputation of being "bad," you may wonder what this really means.
Those who suddenly learn they have stage 4 lung cancer are not alone. Roughly 40 percent of people with lung cancer are diagnosed when their cancer is already stage 4, which means that the cancer has metastasized (spread) throughout the body.1 For example, tumors may be present in the brain, bones, or liver.

So how do you keep people from getting to stage 4 in the first place?
Regular exams/screening would seem to be the answer, but are there symptoms people and their doctors should be looking out for and questions that they should be regularly asking?
I knew a fellow who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2008. As it happened, his best buddy was the head of one of the largest cancer-treatment hospitals in the country. He got the very best treatment, no waiting for appointments, walk right in to any specialist in the place. It was totally unfair and discriminatory, but he did manage to survive for more than 13 years, and died last November.
If I had the money they do, I’d get a PET scan once a year. Right now, when at the dentist for 6-mo checkups, I get the mouth cancer scan for 45$. Would be stupid not to!
Remember, some reasearchers recently claimed they have serendipitously discovered a treatment that cures colon, prostate, and lung cancers (IIRC). It could be true. Massive game changer. What if God put that here specifically to save Rush? It would be incredible for the world to watch that miracle unfold in real time. Just imagine a year from now Rush announces he has been cured by new therapy.
I would also say that those who have ‘formerly nicotine-stained fingers’ should tell their doctors and have regular chest x-rays to look for tumors.
Screening for cancer. I dont have the time to do this again today.

You betcha.
1) Do you smoke?
2) Do you need help to quit?
How old was he?
He was 74 when he died.
You mean you don’t have time to talk people out of saving their own life?
My BIL got 4 reasonably good years, and one not so good before he died
I play volleyball with a guy who has been fighting brain cancer for about 6 years now. Other than the fatigue he constantly feels due to the drugs he's on, he's doing remarkably well......
My dad died of Lung cancer, he was a WW 2 Veteran, going to the VA every 3 months for Chest X Rays, they never found the cancer until it was to late to even treat. No symptoms besides the Emphysema, he worked in a large Steel Mill which back then didn’t provide protective gear. Gave him 6 weeks, sent him home with Hospice care which back then for rural farm areas really sucked. He managed 3 months.
Mom went about a decade later, the Lung Cancer didn’t show any signs until the very last. She lived in pain for 6 months. Got to the point only liquid Pain Meds and Ensure was offered. She refused the Horse Shit Ensure. We got her Strawberry Slim Fast at least it had nutrients in it,
Yah, was thinking that, too. Would think that serious former smokers would want to do that, but of course, he really never stopped smoking entirely, must have known the risks.
Can’t think of a serious smoker who didn’t say at one time or another, “These things are gonna kill me.”
Thanks.
There are new treatments available that have vastly improved the outcomes for many Stage 4 patients.
LOL. I almost pinged you. I was hoping that, after receiving a free course in Medical Screening yesterday you could fill in for me but, alas, I see it was for naught. Well, here goes. Its gonna take a while so be patient.
That is amazing and wonderful.
Which ‘largest cancer treatment centers’ was it?
Does anyone know how long it takes on average to go from stage 1 to stage 4 LC?
