Agents also uncovered 18 violations of federal codes related to the firearms business.

Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime...

Owning a metal tube gets you two years in Prison. We’re screwed.

Why do I get the feeling that this Melton guy is liberal and willing to take the fall on trumped up charges just to keep the Dems anti-gun narrative in the papers?

Two years for owning something that is completely harmless. He could have broken into a car instead and avoided jail time.

If he wasn’t framed (always a possibility with BATFE), it’s shockingly stupid for him to have done this. It’s equally stupid that we ever passed such a silly law. It’s disgusting that the GOP made so little effort to pass the Hearing Protection Act in 2017.

If the GOP wants to win, they need to start winning when they have control. Repeal the vast majority of federal gun laws. Shrink FedGov. Start cutting wasteful spending. I know this is silly talk; the Deep State would have you impeached on non-crimes if you did all of that.

I know I’m feeling a lot more safe this evening.

Whew, I have two years before I need to get back to obsessing about this guy and whether he has a silencer or not.

Meanwhile, those guns sold to Mexico remain out there in the hands of cartel members.

Aw heck who am I kidding? Those people don’t mean our citizens any harm. The agency that facilitated that didn’t break any laws. Why no...

I sure hope they keep a paper and pencil away from this guy while he’s in prison. I don’t want him doing anything stupid.

You know, like providing firearms to cartel members.

One wonders what kind of a commendation or job advancement he’d get if he did something like that.

Good thing the feds are protecting us from this guy rather than wasting their time on illegal aliens.

Two things:

1. The NFA is bad law, especially concerning mufflers. That is all suppressors are.

2. Unfortunately, the NFA is on the books and enthusiastically enforced by an agency that has a reputation for gung-ho-ness, so if you want to play in that sandbox you’d better have your papers in order.

This guy didn’t have his papers in order.

Silencers aren’t registered, they’re taxed. Same with full-auto weapons, short-barreled rifles & shotguns. There’s a form of registration involved with the tax collection but what put this guy’s butt in a crack was not having the tax stamp.

Ridiculous. Suppressors should be legal anyway. They are even in a lot of European countries with strict gun control. There was never some epidemic of people being murdered by guns with suppressors. All they do is protect everybody’s hearing.
