New photos have emerged which for the first time show convicted Nazi guard John Demjanjuk at the Sobibor death camp, a Berlin archive confirmed Monday, although he always denied ever being there. Ukrainian-American Demjanjuk was convicted of being an accessory to the murder of nearly 30,000 Jews at Sobibor by a German court in 2011. He died while his appeal was pending.
According to the Berlin-based Topography of Terror archive, photos of Demjanjuk are among a newly discovered collection of more than 350 snaps which give "detailed insight" into the camp in German-occupied Poland.
The photos surfaced from the estate of former SS officer Johann Niemann, who was killed in an inmates' uprising at Sobibor in 1943.
In a statement, the archive said the collection provided "hitherto unknown insights" into both the Holocaust and the euthanasia programme the Nazis forced on disabled or ill people.

Although the major Nazi criminals are all dead, I have a belief that evidence of what happened to many of them is yet to be discovered.
Just like this case photographs previously undiscovered, I think similar photographs and documents exist all over Germany and especially Argentina and other South American countries where these Criminals fled....
I think if we really knew what happened after the end of WW II it would literally rewrite history...
For example, would it be noteworthy if it came out that Martin Bormann made it to South America...etc...
I have a movie on DVD called Escape from Sobibor starring Rutger Howard.
Russian soldiers captured who were all Jews were sent to Sobibor were not like the passive civilians already there. The soldiers made that escape happen.
The movie showed how nervous the Russian Jews made the camp personnel and I wondered if that was factual.
It is an interesting academic discussion, but by the end of the war there was no more stomach for chasing marginal war criminals.
Soros was pressed into service by the Nazis to collect the belongings of fellow Jews sent to death camps.”
Sounds about right.
I supported Buchanan back in 96. Later when he criticized Israel I was disappointed in him. I found that the only person you should have faith in is Jesus Christ.
Not really.
Hopefully soon, we hear Susan Rice, or Clapper say they were just following orders....
Socialists ought to understand their legacy includes the NAZI abuses of power and now the DNC is trying to hide behind “just following orders”.
Your post highlights the many problems that occur when judging who is - and who is not - a war criminal. Certainly the Nazis who were on trial at Nuremberg were war criminals. And they deserved their fate.
But what about the guy who drove the train to Auschwitz? Did he deserve to hang? What about the guy who marched children off to the gas chambers? Did he deserve to hang?
What about William Calley, who was convicted of murdering 22 unarmed South Vietnamese civilians at My Lai? Did he deserve to hang?
As you noted, GSC, G_d will judge them all.
Buchanan has always had a contrarian side.
In this age one cannot objectively examine Hitler or the war without being accused of something.
Was Hitler as they portray him? Probably, but maybe not. The one thing, is the present line of thinking and any deviation from that is blasphemous.
History is written by the victor and what Buchanan has often done, is try the view from the other side for a different perspective on events. He has done it with the Japanese as well. Doesnt make him wrong or an anti-Semite
First is Pat Buchanan dead? Everyone is using past tense.
Pat is/ was an isolationist and that led him to oppose anyone who wanted America to defend Israel. That in turn led him to, at the very least, be unimpressed by any Jewish causes.
And, there definitely was a side of Nixon which resented “liberal NY Jews”and saw them as a political enemy. Until they began to hate Israel, American liberal Jews were a very powerful political block.
I don’t support Pat on this I’m just explaining it.
Regarding WWII, it’s a fact the British mismanaged getting into that war, including declaring war over Poland, which the British could not help. But that’s a strategic issue, Hitler had to be stopped.
Go pat go?
First American I had no idea of I learned about on FR
Over 20 years ago
I’m getting old.
RE War Criminals:
The communists murdered more innocent human beings than Hitler and his brand of socialists ever dreamed of. That makes THEM “war criminals” in my book too.
Maybe one of these days, we’ll pursue, prosecute, and apply permanent justice to them with equal vigor...
Actually liberals are the original absurd contrarians, teaching that FDR was an economic conservative and Lincoln didn’t want to end slavery. In fact, they teach he didn’t end slavery.
I’m betting that they’re old photos, and not new ones.
> History is written by the victor and what Buchanan has often done, is try the view from the other side for a different perspective on events <
Agreed. But there is a limit. What Buchanan has written about WW II is, for the lack of a better word, disgusting. He actually blames Churchill for the worst excesses of the Holocaust! Not Hitler or Himmler, but Churchill.
From the link below:
Buchanan argues that if Churchill had accepted Hitler’s peace offer of 1940, the severity of the Holocaust would have been greatly reduced.

Side note: As I said before, I like a lot of Buchanans ideas. So it pains me to have to make this post.
Israel convicted Demjanjuk for being "Ivan the Terrible" in Treblinka. It was then proven being doubt that at worst he was a border perimeter guard in Sobibor. Israel declined to prosecute him for that.
In August 1977, Demjanjuk was accused of having been a Trawniki man, and based on eyewitness testimony by Holocaust survivors, he was identified as the notorious and savagely violent Treblinka extermination camp guard "Ivan the Terrible".[4] These accusations culminated in Demjanjuk's extradition to Israel in 1986. In 1988, Demjanjuk was convicted and sentenced to death.
No access to the photos. If they are just old photos of a young man in WW2, how do you prove that’s him?
> The communists murdered more innocent human beings than Hitler and his brand of socialists ever dreamed of. That makes THEM war criminals in my book too. <
Right! And it drives me crazy that this is not generally acknowledged. No one would dream of selling a fawning Hitler shirt on Amazon. But if you want a Stalin or Mao shirt, Amazon has many to choose from.
That's because the commie Left has spent the last 7 decades since the very day WWII ended in Europe painting the National Socialists (Nazis, for the folks who still don't know) as "right-wing". Our fault for letting them control the narrative.
Socialism is the same no matter whether you add "national", "international", or "democratic" in front of it. It always leads to cattle cars, gulags, and murdered innocent people.
And here we are, talking about electing the very same bastard ideology we spent the better part of 9 decades training our military to destroy. Our fathers and grandfathers crossed an ocean to forcibly take apart one version of that ideology.
Go figure, right?
They'd be new to everyone else. If they ever decided to post them.
