He didn’t make up a story.
His paycheck was on hold.
Check was written on that bank.
The teller had the check. It
was legit.
If the bank treats its employees this
way for an act of mercy/kindness screw
them. Let them be azzholes.
And they will lose every good employee
they have.

>>That’s like a McDonald’s worker getting fired for giving someone an extra hot mustard in a chicken nugget box.

No, it’s actually more like a customer, 14 miles away, needed mustard, and the cashier got into her car and delivered it to them.

I can say that I do not like US Bank either. I have heard lots of stories about smile to a customer when opening an account. If there is any problem: don’t talk to me...call fast line and talk to a person in North Dakota or some where.

She did have permission from her supervisor. The bank may have had a leg to stand on if they’d docked her for the time she wasn’t on the job. That’s like a McDonald’s worker getting fired for giving someone an extra hot mustard in a chicken nugget box. But that’s not why the bank fired her so hope they get enough bad publicity that their customers take their money elsewhere.

The bank has no say in what she does with HER money! The only question here was the time away from her job. She helped a stranger in need. I guess that is against US BANK'S policy.

There must be something in the water in Oregon that makes people evil and angry.

And some of the folks here are drinking it and it's making them sound stupid and paranoid........

Bank put a hold on his paycheck. No bank manager was there on Xmas Eve to lift the hold which is what she told him to try and do. His boss was ready to verify his employment.

Her supervisor gave him permission to leave to give him 20.00.

She was fired for having financial interaction with a customer. The supervisor was also fired.

She met a stranger offsite on company time. Supervisor who “approved” her leaving got fired too. A lawyer/insurance/liability thing. She gets into an accident or mugged by the stranger and her employer is on the hook. Should have waited until after work.

I was in court on a case where a parent needed a security deposit for an apartment and the opposing counsel offered to pay it. No, you cannot do that kind of stuff.

What?

That makes no sense.

Did the opposing counsel get his pee-pee whacked by the bailiff?

We probably all have bad bank stories. Here's mine.

I sent my mortgage check to the bank in L.A. that issued the mortgage. Somebody there credited the WRONG account for the WRONG amount (about $500 less).

The check itself then went to an intermediary bank and the error in the amount went unnoticed. The intermediary bank then presented the check to my bank for the wrong amount.

Some weeks later I get a notice that I was late in making my mortgage payment since, according to the bank in L.A., I didn't pay anything. (Though I had a cancelled check that said I did.)

When I brought this to the attention of my own bank they acted like I was some stranger off the street asking for a favor. They figured it wasn't their problem so they weren't interested in helping me.

Then I pointed out that the check was honored for the wrong amount. I said, "So if I simply close my account right now I will come out $500 ahead? That sounds good to me." Suddenly they were interested.

Unfortunately, nobody I could find had ever heard of such a messed up transaction. When I contacted the local branch of the bank that held my mortgage, the lady working there found the situation fascinating and was eager to own the problem and find the solution.

The solution was actually pretty uncommon. All three banks had to come to an agreement as to how to fix things up and make their corrections simultaneously. Needless to say, I dropped my local bank right after that.

US Bank screwed us royal. We are cutting ties. They don’t give a crap about their customers, or, apparently, their employees.

After Chase stole my money...

I have called them "EVIL Chase" since that middle of the night takeover of Washington Mutual our beloved federal government pulled off. I wonder if I'll live to read a tell all book about that heist. It stinks to high heavens.

I did.

Though i have been proudly not reading articles for a long time.

Her manager let her leave on the clock to give the lady money. If I were to do that on my job,I would be in it deep.

And as others have posted, there is probably more to this story

Paranoid?!

I could say a few things but I won’t because I try to keep my posts courteous and eschew personal attacks.

Unlike you ... oops, I slipped just then.

I was a reporter for 25 years, and if there’s one thing I learned it’s that if a story sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The bank’s conduct appears so over-the-top abusive that I have to wonder if there’s not another side to the story.

Not every employer is an ogre and a lot of employees get fired for good reason.

Any story that paints adversaries in such black-and-white terms sets my BS detector going “beep, beep, beep.”

On the other hand, it may be entirely possible that everything happened as stated. I’d just like to hear more.

They fired her for putting her life in danger for interfacing with a person that could have kidnapped or raped her. However, her supervisor permitted her to go, but she is still employed. The $20 came out of her own pocket and the bank didn’t release the funds until 2 days after Christmas. US Bank sucks serious balls!
