The U.S. government on Monday launched a pilot program to collect DNA from people in immigration custody and submit it to the FBI, with plans to expand nationwide.

The information would go into a massive criminal database run by the FBI, where it would be held indefinitely. A memo outlining the program published Monday by the Department of Homeland Security said U.S. citizens and permanent residents holding a “green card” who are detained could be subject to DNA testing, as well as asylum seekers and people entering the country without authorization. Refusing to submit DNA could lead to a misdemeanor criminal charge, the document said.

This sounds like a border version of the airport TSA. Dollars to donuts the only ones being targeted for DNA collection will be the U.S. citizens. Remember how Obama changed the FBI rule book? From now on the only terrorism you will mention or investigate will be the home-grown right wing militia kind.

While they’re at it, also do finger-printing, biometric scans, iris scans, and retina scans. Make it be the case that we will be able to identify illegals from a distance in the future.

They should also collect OTHER BIOMETRICS (e.g.,retina scans) in addition to the DNA. Later identification would be facilitated and would be MUCH FASTER ... near instantaneous.

Will they check it against existing criminal databases to see if they have been here and committed crimes that involve DNA?

-——That’ll slow down the re-crossers-——

How?

All it will do is positively identify recrossers

There needs to be action that will prevent recrossing. Missing feet will prevent crossing. Blindness will prevent recrossing. Death will prevent recrossing.

Haven’t the police been collecting DNA from nearly every American citizen/resident who gets arrested by the local police? One wonders why people caught breaking the law at the border aren’t treated the same.
