Here's how to successfully UPGRADE your Windows 7 system to Windows 10 for FREE! This video takes you though the process from start to finish including several obstacles to over come that you could face.
This upgrade Works for ALL versions of Windows 7.
And you may only have a couple of weeks to get the FREE upgrade to Windows10, as Microsoft will cease making updates available as of 14th January 2020 as part of it's Windows 7 end of life programme which could also mean Microsoft shuts down it's Windows 7 upgrade servers.
So if you have been putting off upgrading your copy of Windows 7, then the time to act is NOW!

I’ve got a total of one (1) desktop with windoze-7. My plan is to keep going.
Is there any significant downside to remaining with it?
This may be “free” but that doesn’t mean the license is valid. If you have a business, it would be wise to use caution before relying on this method, as everything I’ve read indicates you won’t pass an audit - and word is that audits are coming...
The article misspelled downgrade.
Old joke variation: “Second prize is two free upgrades!”
Ah, 10 isn’t that bad. Just hate not knowing what’s going on in my computer.
I have a 8.1. Do you know if it is possible to get a free upgrade to 10?
Ha. Sorry no.
I posted this so that I can ask questions. I barley know what I'm doing on this thing most of the time.
I even installed it on a 10 year old 1 GB RAM mini-notebook that originally came with Windows Vista. I upgraded all my computers.
Best thing to revive an aging computer, IMHO, is a SSD boot drive and Windows 10
I got a free upgrade back in the 20th century. Linux
Since purchase (aprox. 2011-12) my Win 7 has NEVER had any MS-Google-whatever update.
I surf, email, shop, watch YouTube, use TurboTax and very occasionally do some banking.
What could I expect to go wrong? (if anything)
TIA

[[windows-7. I plan to use them without the updates. Should I change one to windows-10? ]]
What for? IF you just want to be safe online, then I would suggest changing one to linux and using it exclusively for online work as it’s much safer than any windows- for your windows 7 machines, i would suggest getting something like macrium reflect, and doing a complete backup once every few months or so- AND save all your important stuff in an external Hard Drive-
IF you want to stay current, so programs will continue to work when they get upgraded, then that would be one of the only reasons to switch to windows 10 in my opinion
I used to run windows 7 with a program called rollbackRX which used to be a fantastic program, any virus or trojan or simple system malfunction could be ‘erased’ durign stsrtup (Before windows loads) by revertign the system to a known good working point- and it only took a few minutes- unlike complete backup restore programs like macrium reflect which take longer to restore
If i were using my windows 7 online, i would look into rollbackRX or another similar program, as recovering completely from a virus is a simple matter of clicking a couple of buttons- It takes a snapshot of the entire system at a known GOOD point, so if you get a virus later on, it will revert back to that good point and the virus will be completely gone- I believe it even protects against crypto lockers that take your system hostage, as it loads even before windows does
yes - vulnerability to malware/exploits.
classic shell is unnecessary. learn the windows-key+R shortcuts...

By contrast, Linux remains free to install and use.

A very good question and I have found myself in the same boat. Did the upgrade prior to the Win 10 release and held off updating it.
