I started watching this last night and found it fairly intriguing. It was created by Michael Petroni who wrote the script for the Narnia film Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Mark Burnett and Roma Downey both served as executive producers. I'm a few episodes in and have enjoyed it so far.

Like montag813, I decided to watch it after seeing who hated it. And glad I did.
