If she was on duty it can be said that the city is a fair target...but she wasn’t.

Dam^, I thought most of the evidence (at least what I have seen) pointed to this being a bad shoot.

Who appointed the judge? The city should not be indemnified. The officer used deadly force without provocation. The intruder could have been a maintenance worker, inspector etc.

Limits the amount the family is going to collect in lawsuits. I doubt if the officer involved has much in the way of assets at this point.

Wow. Eating a bowl of ice cream.

Didn’t lock his front door?

Lock no good?

All the keys in that building fit all the doors?

I ponder, what would’ve happened had the guy shot her when she broke into his apartment.

Court TV has been replaying the trial over the last few days. I happened to flip through it when the dead guy’s family was giving a news conference. I don’t know exactly what they were so upset about, the woman was tried and convicted. It may have been the sentence was too short or something, but the point is about 5 or 6 older black women did not seem to like white people......at all. Based on their attitudes you would think this happens every day and perpetrators get away with it.

Sickening. The officer was poorly trained and indoctrinated by the city of Dallas, therefore the city of Dallas bears some responsibility for the unlawful taking of life by the officer, who is employed by the city as a so-called police officer.

Dis she fail her required psych eval, but was hired anyway?

According to Dr. Clarissa Cole fully half the people she evaluated and failed were hired anyway.

Dr. Cole: It’s not like the bar is so darned high that no one could pass, it’s nothing LIKE that, this test is just to find out is this person basically psychologically stable, are they non-sadistic, do they not have criminal or punishing tendencies or narcissistic tendencies themselves. Basically you’re trying to weed out anybody that has a like God complex; I’m judge, jury, and executioner. You want to get those people out of there. You’re trying to get people out of there that are just psychiatrically so unstable that they can’t control their emotions so, maybe some sort of bipolar thing going on or somebody that absolutely clearly has a personality disorder, like narcissistic personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder. They are not

Eric Olsen: Checks and balances. Checks and balances to protect the general public from somebody that would not do well in that position.

Dr. Cole: And I was very, yeah, I was extremely, forgiving on these psychological tests even when somebody would sort of hit sort of some of those marks on the tests we would give, I would ask in interviews I would ask a ton of questions just to be very, very sure that this person was indeed failing the psychological exam, and I did not fail that many people, but the people I failed, please believe me that it was for extremely good reasons, extremely good reasons, and half of them became cops anyway.

If she failed her psych eval and the city of Dallas hired her in spite of that, they should be at a minimum civilly liable.

And in my not so humble opinion, the hiring manager who violated policy and therefore lost the protection of sovereign immunity should be personally sued and made a horrible example for any hiring manager willing to give a known sociopath a badge, a gun, and dominion over his or her fellows...
