NJ and PA
NJ shore during HS and College and PA while at Penn State.
At the places we frequent, tips are shared with busboys and bartenders and other wait staff. I was surprised. For example, table of 8 with a $160 tip, waitress shares the tip with other wait staff.
#7. Well, for the stupid leftists who support their Marxist governors, mayors, and city councils, a hardy New York’s “FU”.
If they read your 4 reasons why Seattle’s businesses are in trouble, AND STILL BELIEVE IN BEING “PROGRESSIVES”, again, a hardy FU.
“Seattle Leftists, still stuck on stupid”. Gen. Honore’.
You get what you deserve. I saw the beginnings of this crap in the mid-90’s when I was working on a govt case in Seattle. Drug addicts all over the place but downtown was still beautiful and affordable.
Guess who’s never coming back. Did the Space Needle trip - awesome. Seattle’s “Democratic Marxists - shitfaced and traitorous.
Again, you get what you support and deserve.
Forgot to add that the late longshoreman philosopher, the great Eric Hoffer, wrote a book entitled “The True Believer”, basically about communist ideologues and stooges, but applicable to anyone who become a fanatic.
If he were still alive today, he would be writing a sequel, “Truly Stupid Believers”. There is enough material to work with for such as book and it would be the size of the old Columbia Encyclopedia.
Kshama Sawant got plenty of her money after divorcing her husband which she used to promote her position. It is the same with Maria Cantwell one of the senators from Washington state.
They are basically the same as the whore Kamala. Get money and positions from men in power and use it as a commie platform.
Not really. That is like expecting a Christian to renounce Christ after suffering a misfortune.
I can only imagine what is “taught” in an Econ 101 class today.

Ask AOC.
Elite liberals (progressives/communists) began infecting Seattle and most of Western WA in the late 70s and 80s. Then it began its side into oblivion - at first it was a funny crazy - we called Seattle the ‘Far Side’ after the comic strip. But when they began to advocate killing commercial salmon fishermen, it lost its luster. When they screamed hate from the pulpit, we made any necessary trips to the city as short and as location specific as possible.
Democrats convince mothers to murder their own unborn children too.
Well then how is being a progressive working out for you? Since it will kill your job it will also kill your employees’ jobs as well. Think about it $15 per hour on the unemployment line is zero
The government does not have the right to set a minimum hourly rate, or a maximum.
I didnt realize, until reading some of the responses, that tips are shared by the waitresses now. We always overtip for good service (over 20%), but I will be less inclined to do that now. Im tipping my waitress for the service she provided. And thats only for waitresses who actually waitress, not just those who take the order. I do not like having someone standing there saying, Who had the medium rare?
I cocktailed and tended bar for over 20 years. The paychecks were just a small bonus. I lived quite well off my tips.
When I used to tend bar part-time at a country club, new hires started at minimum wage (I think it was about $5.25 per hour at the time) with small raises each year. But the clients were good tippers, mostly. Few paid cash; they mostly used house charges and wrote on the tip.
At the start of my eighth season there we were called in for a meeting by the Japanese owners. Everyone was getting a raise in pay, according to seniority (mine was going to $14 an hour), but there was to be no tipping. The club was adding a 17% service charge to the checks. They posted notices on the bar and at the tables in the lounge informing the members, as well as putting it in the club newsletter.
Some members I talked with thought that the 17% went to us. Some left a bit extra, but most just stopped tipping at all. I then printed up notices explaining that our pay had been increased but the 17% was NOT going to the staff, and placed them on the bar and tables in the lounge. My own pay had decreased by over a third.
Some of our “19th hole” drinkers began paying their bar tabs in cash and tipping us, so the house charge could not add the 17%. Troublemaker JimRed was terminated shortly thereafter.
A number of years have gone by, and that beautiful golf club is now a subdivision of lovely McMansions.
LOL...nice civil disobedience. Obviously in the case of the $15 minimum, we all know where that money is going (booze, drugs, cigs, and lottery tickets).
We need to reach out to people who are waking up to reality...
