Durham Surprises Even Allies With Statement on F.B.I.’s Trump Case
NYT ^ | 12 23 2019 | Elizabeth Williamson

Whether investigating charges of torture by the C.I.A., rolling up an organized crime network or prosecuting crooked government officials, John H. Durham, the veteran federal prosecutor named by Attorney General William P. Barr to investigate the origins of the Russia inquiry, burnished his reputation for impartiality over the years by keeping his mouth closed about his work.

At the height of the Boston mob prosecution that made his name, he not only rebuffed a local newspaper’s interview request, but he also told his office not to release his résumé or photo.

That wall of silence cracked this month when Mr. Durham, serving in the most politically charged role of his career, released an extraordinary statement questioning one key element of an overlapping investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz.

Mr. Horowitz had found that the F.B.I. acted appropriately in opening the inquiry in 2016 into whether the Trump campaign wittingly or unwittingly helped Russia influence the election in Donald J. Trump’s favor. In response, Mr. Durham, whose report is not expected to be complete for months, released a caveat-laden rebuttal: “Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the inspector general that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the F.B.I. case was opened.”

SNIP

In a Washington Post op-ed this month, Mr. Holder cautioned Mr. Durham, whom he said he has been proud to know for at least a decade, about his statement. “Anyone in Durham’s shoes would do well to remember that, in dealing with this administration, many reputations have been irrevocably lost,” he wrote.

The NYT is playing interference for the Horowitz whitewash.

Eric Holder, via the Washington Post, warns that anyone who investigates the Russian Collusion investigation risk having their lives destroyed.

Horowitz gave his report the Comey/Hillary treatment. He lays out in lavendar the many offenses the FIB was guilty of, then says no action is warranted. Of course, the media refuse to tell people what’s actually in the report, only the spin.

“”””He lays out in lavendar the many offenses the FIB was guilty of, then says no action is warranted””””

Did you watch the hearings? He said the opposite.

It’s high time that Eric Holder was brought up on charges.

What H said in the hearings was too little, too late, after what he said in his report. I agree with Durham.

It really doesn’t matter what he said. People, like you and me, who heard what he said already know what happened. The great mass of Americans only hear what the stooge press tells it. Horowitz main goal was achieved when, in his report, he gave the Democrats cover with his “no bias” statement. That statement was trumpeted far and wide and is what most Americans got from the report. Once again another successful conspiracy to deceive.

What this told me was that Durham found some really horrible stuff, and that he believes that Horowitz is part of it. At least in so far as covering up the crimes, and maybe more.

Horowitz tried to soft step it, no doubt.

But the information he uncovered means this whole thing will blow wide open.

If Sessions was still the AG this thing would fizzle away as he wouldn’t want to hurt the feelings of his fellow uniparty members.

AG Barr won’t let it go.

Oooooooooooooooooo.

Is Eric Holder threatening the Attorney General’s investigator??

Ain't that some kind of “interfering with the investigation” or some other such “criminal action” ?

I won't argue that, but the Horowitz investigation had serious limitations that Durham doesn't have.

I agree that what he found was devastating for the DS. He had to report it because he knew Durham was plowing the same ground and would see everything as well. Horowitz did a damn good job of dolling up that pig with lipstick and all kinds of makeup to allow the press to continue to prevaricate about what happened. I guess the desperate hope is to hold off these revelations until they can get impeachment to stick.

Since it's the Slimes, we'll have to fix the partisan Democrite* propaganda:

"In a Washington Post op-ed this month, Mr. Holder cautioned threatened Mr. Durham, AND OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE"

*A combination of "Democrat" and "hypocrite", two terms which go together like ham and eggs.

He referred the entire chain for disciplinary review - which in being basically an HR guy, is about as strong a position as he can take. He flatly stated that while no one confessed, he received no satisfactory explanation for why actions were taken. He also found a clear-cut example of evidence tampering which he referred for prosecution.
