The president has lit the National Christmas tree on the mall virtually every year since 1923. But what makes this year so special is that the president didnt shy away from the true meaning of the season.
In his remarks, Trump reminded the nation about a piece of the tradition that we often overlook. After President Calvin Coolidge lit the first National Christmas Tree, a cross was displayed in bright lights on the Washington Monument a powerful reminder, the president said, of the meaning of the season.
Mentioning a cross is bold enough on its own, but the president went even further than that. He named the true meaning of Christmas for all to hear, narrating the biblical story of the wise mens journey to Bethlehem and their worship of the infant Christ.
Christians give thanks that the son of God came into the world to save humanity, the president proclaimed. Jesus Christ inspires us to love one another with hearts of generosity and grace.
The light that shone out from Washington last week marks the turn of a tide a shift away from the secularism and indifference that has shrouded our country in darkness for far too long. Its a welcome change and a renewal of the American promise.
....
From 2010 to 2016, none of the White House Christmas cards actually used the word Christmas, instead opting for variations on seasons greetings. President Trumps decision to name the season is an incredible encouragement to believers far and wide. First lady Melania Trump also encouraged the faithful with her stunning display of Christmas decorations themed around The Spirit of America. The green, red, white, and blue decorations reminded Americans that they no longer need to fear about sharing their patriotism or their faith.

Cont-....The beauty of Christmas is that its the beginning of a story whose ending we already know. Christ took on human form and was born into our world on Christmas Day and hell come back in that very same human form and judge the world in the fullness of time. With that peace and love in our hearts, we can continue to declare the good news of Christmas in the land of the free.
God bless our president. We can say Merry Christmas again. Then last week he had a Hanukah party at the white house and issued as executive order about anti-semitism. Best President in my lifetime.
Merry Christmas is everywhere.
Signs on counters.
After a sale.
People on the street.
I haven’t seen it like this since I was a kid in the 70s.
This is great.
Michigan.
Merry Christmas!

I think this is one of the reasons that i mentioned in the above thread.
How about a manger scene and menorah on the front lawn of the White House? The leftist Christian haters would have their heads exploding!
I saw more people wearing Santa hats in the grocery store today than any other Christmas time I can recall.
I make a point of saying “Merry Christmas” and almost always get a hearty “Merry Christmas” in return.
God Bless Trump!
People are saying it in stores, especially convenience stores. But on commercials it’s still damnable generic “holiday.”
add...
Hometown pharmacy
Coney dog place
Hardware store
Restaurants
...but in line with your observation, GM commercial just started announcing Happy Holiday savings.
I’ve been saying “Have a Merry Christmas!” to every cashier I’ve dealt with this holiday season. Most reply with the same.
I pulled up to the toll taker at the highway and she looked at my black clearcoat Jeep Wrangler Altitude with the wreath with a red bow on the grill and she smiled and said, Well, I know I can say Merry Christmas to you!!
It’s been a fun shopping season...celrks are happy they don’t have to worry about saying “Merry Christmas”....
It’s our Christian National Holiday...and even those who don’t share the Christian faith celebrate. It was just stupid to try and stop that.
All it takes to overcome evil is for good people to not be afraid to say Merry Christmas. And Happy Hannukah is just fine too for those inclined.
Merry Christmas, President Trump! God bless you and your family.
There kind of is...both are on the Ellipse where the national Christmas tree is located - right across from the White House.
