Advocate Aurora Health Care is accelerating its initiative for hiring diverse contractors on major construction projects and set a goal of 25% for a showcase $228 million campus in Mount Pleasant.
The diversity program builds on goals Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care previously instituted for spending 15% of construction costs with contractors owned by minorities, women, veterans and other groups, said Daryl Hodnett, Advocate Aurora’s director of supplier diversity and inclusion.
“This is an important part of how you help grow and build and develop underserved communities,” Hodnett said. “We’re helping make healthier communities economically — helping create jobs and economic growth.”
Aurora Health Care merged with Advocate Health Care of Downers Grove, Illinois, in April 2018. Executives with the combined organization decided to ramp up diversity contracting in both Wisconsin and Illinois, Hodnett said.
Aurora Health Care already increased its goal from the initial 15%. In 2018, 18% of construction spending — or $36 million — went to diverse contractors. For this year, 20.9% will go to diverse contractors totaling about $50 million, Hodnett said.
Starting in 2020, the diversity goals will be systemwide for Advocate Aurora Health, said spokeswoman Brigid Sweeney. The goal for 2020 is 22.5% and the goal for 2021 is 25%, she said.

Setting health care goals based on Diversity is racist and criminal.

Indeed. At the very minimum, let’s start a pool on which failure will occur first, which will cost the most, and how many will be killed/injured.
and just how low will the bar be for their diversity doctors ???
For sure.
Well, the pedestrian bridge could fail, as it did in Florida, killing many.
This seems more to do with their constructing buildings - I still disagree with the diversity goals here - than with taking care of the customers.
I sincerely hope that their woke-@$$edness does not extend to whom they hire.

Actually, it's prolly a great way to end up with buildings that fall apart and supporting infrastructure that'll be a source of problems and callbacks from Day One.
Ungh! That will ensure that some of the doctors will be a laugh and a half - just hope they know what the heck they’re doing.
