Boris Johnson has thanked the first-time Tory voters who have handed him an overwhelming mandate to get Brexit done, and offered an olive branch to those who opposed him.
Speaking on the steps of Number 10 Downing Street, the modest official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Johnson related that he had been formally invited to form a new government by Queen Elizabeth II, and pledged that he would lead a peoples government.
Im proud to say that members of our new One Nation government, a peoples government, will set out from constituencies which have never returned a Conservative MP for a a hundred years, he said, in reference to his broadly centre-right, neoliberal partys astonishing incursion into the Labour partys working-class heartlands.
Johnson said that his overwhelming mandate to get Brexit done he has won the biggest Conservative parliamentary majority since Margaret Thatchers last election in the 1980s would provide a moment of national resolution in a country which has been mired in Brexit squabbling from almost the moment the people voted for it, in defiance of the political establishment.

I want to speak directly to those who made it possible and to all those who voted for us for the first time, and all those whose pencils may have wavered over the ballot, Johnson said, recognising that the gains which made his victory possible came in areas where few voters are natural Tories indeed, where the Tories have been largely despised for generations.

Excellent !
In spite of our many past differences, the Brits are still us.
Theyre populists - not conservatives. They broadly favor a mix of traditional values aligned with government spending to uplift the most disadvantaged and left behind sectors of society.
In other words, people left behind by neoliberal globalization policies pursued by both the Left and the Right.
Support for Brexit doesnt fall neatly along the old traditional left-right ideological divides.
Funny how you never hear about the Left offering an “olive branch” to our side when they win.

Cant heal until the Muslims are deported out of Britain.
It is a step in the right direction.
Boris may want to heal Britain, but Scotland is already talking about a second secession referendum. The British are at least as divided as America.
When Tories and Republicans start talking about “healing,” be prepared for a cave-in. There’s nothing to heal; the Marxists are the ones inflicting the beat-downs.
What you describe is not really populist, but more like Christian Democrat?
Reality is that neither globalism nor populism (as you describe it) have anything to do with the Constitution here.
They must know it would not be received well. I’d take the branch and smack them with it.
I’d love to see a realignment of the Conservative into a party that will limit the growth of government. I just saw on You Tube some moronic snowflake wrote that Boris will be like Trump. I replied: If he is that’s a Great Thing.
I have been telling anyone that will listen to... left / right dynamic is dead... it is now nationalists vs globalists
Scotland is not talking about this. Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish National party (SNP) are. Her party has a only a plurality, not a majority of seats in the Scottish Parliament.
They claim to speak for all Scots, but that is not the case.
