Why is that even in question?
Because Graham, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, who makes the rules and calls witnesses came out and said he was not interested is calling any witnesses. He made an earlier comment about not having a trial. Then said we would have a trial with witnesses. Then he flip flopped again and said no witnesses. Now he is quiet. And Mitch said he will do what Trump wants.
Because many in the Senate GOP and those befriended or related to them are knee-deep also in the muck.
The Lefties want to get this all wound up in the "brains" of the retards.
The recommended course of action?
Mock the charges with a one-sentence dismissal, then go straight to a vote.
It would be devastating.
I can see the desire for a "spectacle", but annihilating the anklebiters by p*ssing in their faces would be nuclear.
You're quite right...legally it means nothing at this juncture of maturation.

Because $h!t happens thats why. Let The Turtle handle this. Meanwhile, Trump should keep his mouth shut and work on treaties, the wall and such. If he plays his cards smart he will have a blowout re-election and add to senate and flip the House Republican....
Trey Gowdy explained it well. The president has an easy win here. Take the win and then have someone else conduct an investigation. Gowdy was thinking senate judiciary, but I’m thinking a real DOJ attorney who can throw people in jail.
A Senate trial or a senate committee hearing cannot do that.
