It has been the most interesting life for me since Trump rode down the elevator in Trump building. For an immigrant political junkie like me, there is not a boring moment in politics since Trump declared he was running.

Why can’t all of Presidents Trump’s records be sealed like the POS who was in the White House before Trump?

We have all of Obama’s tax returns up through his time in office.

I purposely wear smelly shirts when shopping in Walmart, in the hope of running into Peter Strzok, so I can punch him.

Only records of Barack Hussein which are sealed, to my knowledge, are his college records and his multiple social security numbers and that he had registered as a foreign student. I think his tax records are published, which were mostly 2 page returns. He never even ran a hot dog business.

“They’re inherent in its roles and responsibilities.”

Only through judicial extension.

And that’s certainly what any progressive would have everyone believe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_oversight

No mention in the Constitution that Congress has a responsibility to ensure and/or enforce anything. Nor any right to access anything in government. Or anything from the Executive.

The entire concept is in flux all the time because it is extra-constitutional and both Congress and the Executive have de facto agreement to allow the courts to arbitrate.

But the Constitution does not grant the courts this power. Nor is oversight granted to Congress.

Does Congress have oversight authority if an executive declines to comply with their demands, or the demands of the court?

AFAIK, a president has something called EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE, and even George Washington exercised that privilege, and it has been upheld by courts.

In June the Supreme Court should be handing down their decision on this, their decision on the legality of Obamacare, their decision on the Roe v. Wade challenge, and their decision on the Dreamers, among others. How the Court decides on these cases could impact the election in November.

There is a time when Executive Privilege can NOT be used....during an Impeachment Trial.

These subpoenas are for documentation on acts taken before Trump became president. Executive privilege would not apply.

I am not about to read the Post, but I assume it is about Trump’s tax returns and has nothing to do with Trump seeking protection from investigation.

An usual lying headline.

Depends on what is being subpoena’d. If it involves national security matters, or if it involves attorney-client matters, or such, it would require a SHOW CAUSE for the need. Fishing expeditions can never be any good and that is why we have SCOTUS.

Otherwise any partisan House of Reps can begin a fishing expedition against any president they hate, and just impeach him and negate the votes of half of the country.

They subpoenaed tax and loan records that date from prior to Trump becoming president.

Good thinking. Only reason I linked WAPO because it was conveniently available. And yes Trump’s tax return is the main objective but there are also a couple of others.

Won’t hold up in court UNLESS they can show cause evidence why it is needed.

This so called articles of impeachment is based on Ukraine phone call, and even ordinary people can surmise what connection does it have with Trump’s tax returns?

In addition, there is no law on the books that a president must release his/her tax returns for public consumption.

No. Why didn’t they get the court to subpoena the executive branch to testify in their shampeachment?

I know the social justice warrior judges have ruled a lot against other thing Trump has done.

They have judges that protect the liberal ideology and the ruling elites. We have judges that protect the Constitution and American citizens.
