I like petite, had a crush on her since watching the 2016 BBC EU Referendum coverage on C-Span.
The problem with the UK polls, apart from the usual unreliability etc is the fact that just like in the US the popular vote is of no importance. It is first past the post in 632 constituencies. YouGov in their latest poll found the predicted outcome to be Conservatives 339 seats (43% of the vote) and Labour 231 seats (34%).
This would give Cons an absolute majority of 39 seats (and Labour far far from any majority). However, the statistical range for the Cons is 367 to 311. The lower bound would cause a hung Parliament. Still the likelihood is a Tory win (despite the latest Telegraph poll). But there are still “remainers” among the Conservatives which would mean that Boris Johnson would need a large majority to ensure a “Brexit”.
650 constituencies, not 632. 326 Seats needed for a majority.
Sorry! You’re right. Quoted from a Swedish newspaper. I now see from the Yougov poll that it did not cover Northern Ireland.
Note to self: Never, ever, use secondary sources!
who cares about these wankers anymore definitely aren’t the good friends they used to be.
Actually, Corbyn (Labour leader) is the big issue. He is the U.K. equivalent of O. A. Cortez, except that he would be Prime Minister should Labour win, or the Conservatives fail to form a government, and if Corbyn could somehow persuade other parties to vote for him.
That is approximately as likely as Cortez winning the Presidential election in 2020. Labour is expected to lose 20-60 seats, giving Boris Johnson a mostly free hand in Brexit negotiations. Johnson will have to get the votes of either some hard Brexit Conservatives, or some DUP (Northern Ireland Unionists) or some Labour members in pro-Brexit districts, if any Labour members in those districts retain their seats.
Brits better choose Brexit today big time for their own good, With the Mexico, Canada USA trade deal going through...it is quite clear that a victorious Boris Johnson and the citizens of Great Britain will immediately get together with our USA, POTUS, Donald J. Trump and negotiate a master trade deal that will make the USA & Great Britain...true leaders of the world in a short period of time.
Face it...Brits the European Union id dead in the water...run by Socialist or Communists that remain stagnant economically year after year!!! You all better wise up.
Why? This world will soon be run & led economically by the USA, Great Britain, Russia, The China (PRC), Canada, Mexico, India, Japan & South Korea. France, Germany & most of Europe have killed themselves politically & economically. The Kings & Queens (Leaders) of the coming world will be the USA, China (PRCu), Great Britain, Russian, India, Japan & south Korea. the socialist countriew will die politically on the line!!! Wise up
Brits, or you will be seriously left behind as the World Economic Train, leaves your station without you...period!!! Go, Trump & Johnson!!!
“Too close to call” is what we were told in 1980 on election day. It’s an effort by the Leftist media to get their Labour/Lib Dims out to vote. Some polls have moved towards Labour, and none still show the Conservatives leading by 15 percent (last week’s outlier), but the Conservatives need some voters voting Liberal Demonrat to take a bunch of marginal districts. That is expected, but the Liberal Dems are expected to lose half their seats, all to the Conservatives and the SNP (Scottish separationists). Labour is expected to lose 20-60 seats and gain 0-1.
The polls tell me nothing. I can wait a few more hours to find out if the UK has chosen insanity, socialism and *slam, or not.
Does this sound like our election in 2016!
Complicated! 9 Parties, Prime Minister not elected by popular vote, but by Members of Parliament (a sort of British version of Electoral College)
Interesting graphics!
So the UK countryside is Labor - Leftist/Socialist?
Really? Opposite to what is here.
No, blue is the color of the good guys in the U.K., as it is on any reputable website in this country as well (red of course = communist).
No. They use the traditional colors in the UK:
Blue: Conservative and Unionist Party
Red: Labour Party
Orange: Liberal Democrat Party
Yellow: Scottish Nationalist Party
Maroon: Democratic Unionist Party
Green (in Wales): Plaid Cymru
Green (in Northern Ireland): Sinn Fein
Green (In England): Green Party
Does anyone out in Freeper Land know when the polls close in the UK. I think they are about five or six hours ahead of the USA (EST). Thanks!!!
Makes more sense now!
Makes more sense now!
“650 constituencies, not 632. 326 Seats needed for a majority.”
>> “A majority technically requires 326 MPs (half of all seats plus one), but a small number of MPs including the Speaker, his deputies and the members of Sinn Féin dont usually vote. This means a working majority can be achieved with just under 50% of seats.”
320 seats probably will be sufficient for a “working majority”.
Polls close at 10 PM their time which is 5 PM Eastern time in the USA
Thank you....much appreciated!!!
