Top Republicans are leaning toward calling for a vote to acquit Trump 'immediately' after House Democrats and the White House have delivered their arguments to head off partisan disagreements that might lengthen the trial....The president is not in danger of being removed from office by the Senate, a move that requires 67 votes.
Republicans might forgo calling witnesses altogether, saying 'minds are made up on Trump’s guilt or innocence' and that testimony at trial on the Senate floor would draw out the proceedings unnecessarily.

Idiots. The Senate is needed as Trump’s rebuttal, and Pres. Trump is on the record as eagerly seeking a trial. This move would be tantamount to treachery against the President’s re-election effort.
Correction to the article.
“...testimony at trial on the Senate floor” would reveal that everybody is Congress is getting filthy rich off the corrupt foreign aide system and we simply can’t take the risk of shutting down the gravy train.

The Senate might want to end this quickly but President Trump wants to call witnesses and get this out all in the open where he was not allow to do it in the house because of the RATS. Drain the Swamp!

If the House is stupid enough to impeach, the Senate definitely should conduct a trial. Then actual witnesses can be subpoenaed with real referrals for criminal prosecution.
