Too late. In the fifties the ideal woman was a homemaker and mom. Cf Donna Reed, Barbara Billingsly, et al.

Today the ideal woman has tattoos and drinks and cusses like the proverbial sailor. She does her own thing and despises convention.

It is hard enough to sustain a conventional marriage. I cannot see how a foursome or a five-some has any reasonable chance of succeeding.

Apparently (from what I've seen of this one polyamorous relationship of my high school buddies), it can survive if the power imbalance is so great that the weaker partners simply have no other choice but to tolerate it.
