Canada still honors, with statues and parades Louis Riel, who started an Indian war and was hanged by the Canadian Government for murder and treason.

Australia still honors their one hour long Eureka Rebellion with tributes and flags.

So why can;t the South honor their misguided rebellion which lasted far longer, and took over a million casualties.

Even the Indian Tribes of the High Plains and Oklahoma mostly joined with the South in that war.

Grew up in Vancouver. I have relatives who went to the 2nd oldest university which is Simon Fraser University. Simon Fraser was a Brit general who got killed by the American colonials..

Boy, have you hit upon an overlooked and politically inconvenient point—the fact that many Indians joined the CSA. And this was not as mere individuals—there were whole brigades of Indians serving.
