WASHINGTON (WNDU) - VoteVets, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, is endorsing South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president.
It is the first presidential endorsement for the group, which represents more than 700,000 veterans, military families and civilian supporters.
"We need a candidate who will win," VoteVets Chairman Jon Soltz says in a release. "Bar none, Pete gives us the best shot at doing just that. It is time to rally around him, and stop the walking, talking national security threat that is Donald Trump."
Buttigieg is a veteran himself. He took a leave of absence as mayor of South Bend in 2014 and was deployed to Afghanistan for seven months.
"I'm honored to have this endorsement from my fellow veterans as we seek to take on our nation's most urgent challenges and pick up the pieces and put the country back together after Trump," Buttigieg says in the release.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2017.
Buttigieg has vowed to bring all U.S. troops home from Afghanistan within his first year as president.

There are some veterans that support orgs such as VoteVets simply because it has Vets in the name and the veterans doing the supporting have their heads up their asses and can’t be bothered to pay attention.
Such veterans tend to play at being “politically agnostic” and “pox on both their houses”. While in general, that’s not a bad thing, how it plays out in reality is they’re punk bitches for every political scam artist that throws “vet” in their program name.

my bet is that the Puppetmeisters controlling the DNC will come out with a ‘surprise’ candidate...fairly soon...someone far, far, FAR more electable than any of the awful clowns DNC is currently dangling in our faces
someone without the obvious “electability deficits” of the current crop of DNC clowns (insanity, ineligibility, inanity, sexual depravity, liars, Arkanside, bribery, anti-Americanism, anti-Judeo/Christian moral values, anti-life, anti=God, anti-church, anti-Semitism, etc etc and etcetera)
someone perhaps with a positive public image...maybe from the entertainment or sports industries, or?
then, the DNC=controlled mass media will latch right onto this new candidate and promote him/her 24/7/365, forgetting all about the current crop of clowns, who I think are just being fielded as a diversion
I’m a veteran and have never heard of this group. And any veteran who is a democrat is filled with self hate and loathing. This group found a lot of vets with those afflictions.
