Best exit for the Dems would be to say that they were just doing their due diligence on the legality of the impeachment inquiries. Let the lawyers tell them it is based on meritless claims.

The best exit would have been no entrance. They're eyeballs deep in this, and their next move will be to plunge in deeper. And their next move after that will be to plunge in deeper still. This is going to go on throughout the 2020 campaign season, through President Trump's reelection, through is second inauguration, and his entire second term -- even if they lose the House, which I suspect is likely.
