I was returning form a coyote hunt with one of my offspring. We had been way out in the outback. When we got to the nearest town to the highway, we stopped at the gas station/convenience store to offload and get some snacks. I never leave my vehicle unmanned when there are guns in it. So I stayed with the gas guzzling SUV while my offspring went to the restroom. I took the opportunity to wipe down the rifles and store them is cases for the trip home. About the time I pulled out an AR and started wiping it down a short, mean faced, fat woman with clicky shoes came out of the store and proceeded to go to her minivan that was parked next to me. She looked up as she passed and saw the rifle. Her eyes got big and she did an immediate about face and went back into the store. 15 seconds later she comes out with a duplicate of her firmly grasping the other’s wrist and beat feet it for the van. I will never forget the dual clicky shoes at high speed moving by me. They jumped into the van a burned rubber backing out and leaving the parking lot. My offspring came out of the store laughing and said she came in to the store and stopped the other “lady” from completing her transaction at the register and whispered (in a loud voice) “There’s a man with a gun outside. We have to go!”
Of course the van had Kalifornia plates.
What they don’t realize is that is what everyone else is going to do.
I live in northern CA. Outside of the cities, there are a LOT of guys with VERY nice toys. None of the RSOs give a damn about a 17 round mag in a Sig. Even the local boys in blue on the range ignore what they know is in the magwell.
What was said in the first Rambo First Blood movie when they wanted to go up against him; you’re going to need a lot of body bags.
They don’t have a clue - they think that ‘AK’ stands for automatic killer or Alaska... one or the other.
In NC, it’s rare ,but some do still open carry. Including a fried who’s an NRA instructor. He’s in the grocery store & a little old lady see his .45, comes up to him and asks; ‘Is he expecting trouble?’ (’No Ma’am. If I were expecting trouble, I’d be carrying an AR-15’)....

Somehow that never seems to work out that well..
And even then they won’t be able to get all of them, given the rule of threes.
