My daughter was given this diagnosis (along with the "suggestion" she abort the baby) at a Catholic hospital in Pennsylvania. She ignored the advice, went on to deliver a perfectly normal baby who turned 14 last month. The reason for the diagnosis? The mother-to-be turned 35 the month before the ultrasound, and, of course, everyone knows that the chances for a down syndrome baby are greater after 35.
