A 16-year-old high school student says she is afraid to return to the classroom where video footage showed a substitute teacher brutally beating her last week, leaving her with severe injuries.
"I'm scared to even set foot in that school or even outside," the Texas student, identified as Savannah, said Thursday. "I've had lots of headaches. I've very sensitive to light, it's hard to think and I have lots of anxiety."
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Austin ABC affiliate KVUE, the teenager said she's found it hard to leave her house due to fear of someone recognizing her after video of the attack went viral.
Classmates at Lehman High School in Kyle, Texas, shared videos of the Nov. 8 incident on social media, showing substitute teacher Tiffani Shadell Lankford, 32, walking up to Savannah and confronting her at her desk.
One video appears to show Savannah swiping at the teacher first, but the student says she only "shoved her shoulder" in an effort to remove Lankford from her personal space.
The video shows Lankford responding by punching the student multiple times. On the video Lankford then drags her from her desk and throws her to the floor, where she stomps on her head.
Lankford, who had been working for the Hays Consolidated Independent School District since late August, was fired and charged with aggravated assault. It's unclear if she has retained an attorney.
The disturbing video sparked outrage online and even caught the attention of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who said the school district would be investigated.
"Conduct like this won't be tolerated in Texas classrooms," Abbott said. "The substitute teacher who committed this heinous act has been arrested and will face serious legal consequences. The school district will be investigated by the Texas Education Agency."

Look at the 16 second mark. The “girl” throws a first punch. But what I noticed is that “Savannah” the girl sure looks like a male. I think the student is one of those damned psycho trannies.
Teacher went too far, but it was a male calling himself a girl who threw the first punch. And somehow in his deranged mind, he thought it was a good move to throw a punch at a BT-1000 black woman.
Typical violent Democrat.
Read the article....there is a lot more to it than a teacher just pummeling the 16 year old student...lots omitted. Not defending the incident...but...there are 3 sides to every story . How many of my fellow Freeper’s will respond to me by saying” No matter what call the principal/send them to the office....etc...” When schools/ courts / police raise the kids rather than parents ...?????
I believe her. I saw that video. She is lucky to be alive.
I hope she has hired a good attorney.
There was an instance in Louisville of a teacher shoving a boy to the ground. He shoved her first, but it was to get her out of his face. You should at least leave a few inches, really a few feet between yourself and your students. She must have outweighed him by almost a hundred pounds.
What are you talking about? An adult (more or less) whales away at a kid completely out of proportion to anything the kid did. This is supposed to be a « teacher » not an MMA fighter trying to get a fast kill under his/her/its belt.
Stomping a kids head? Really? What planet are you from?
No kids of your own, Id bet.
So glad the teacher was a person of color. This will be out of the news cycle in less than a day.
I read the article.
On the video Lankford then drags her from her desk and throws her to the floor, where she stomps on her head.
Whats the other side of the story I should know?
The :16 second mark? The kid is on the ground after being pummeled at the :16 second mark in the link you provided.
Thats a pretty big leap. Its just a face in a hoody. She sounds like a girl in her interview. And the interview video seems to corroborate her story that the teacher was choking her, which lead to her taking a swing.
Have the pundits at CNN and MSNBC blamed Trump yet?
Look again, slo-mo at 16 or 17 seconds. That’s a dude...
And as for the voice, they can alter that...easily. There’s a reason we aren’t hearing a last name, seeing a face, etc.
Tranny
If I was a 16 year old kid and had something that big and ugly chimp out on me, I’d be leery of setting foot back in there, too.
Won’t a jury have to decide? There will not be testimony and evidence? Why does our forum treat this in such a way? Are we saying that teachers cannot fight back? Is this similar to that old rule “never hit a lady?” Cause that ain’t true. Is this like our always defend the heroic boys in blue, except upside down, the teacher is always wrong until otherwise shown?

Start at the 27 second mark. The student is sitting at her desk, the teacher is standing over her and in her personal space. It also looks like the teacher has her hands on the student. Note that the student’s right foot is up in the air like she’s off balance.
Eyewitnesses said the teacher was becoming increasingly agitated. The student was entitled to defend herself at that point.
This was a ghetto beatdown.
