Remember When Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Liberated Libya?
Townhall.com ^ | November 13, 2019 | Terry Jeffrey

"We came. We saw. He died."

So said then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she learned that Libyan rebels had killed Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi.

Gadhafi and his regime were brought down by an insurrection that then-President Barack Obama backed with U.S. military action -- even though he did not have the constitutionally required congressional authorization to do so.

Speaking from Brazil in March 2011, Obama told the American people he had ordered the U.S. military to intervene in Libya to enforce a U.N. Security Council resolution.

"So we must be clear: Actions have consequences, and the writ of the international community must be enforced," Obama said then. "That is the cause of this coalition."

He was right that actions have consequences.

So, what have been the consequences since Obama -- enthusiastically backed by Secretary of State Clinton -- helped overthrow the Gadhafi regime in Libya?

Has a democracy emerged there?

Is liberty flourishing in Tripoli and Benghazi?

Have terrorists been expelled from the country?

Is the region more stable and secure?

Are we more certain now than we were then that terrorists who spring from -- or find sanctuary in -- Libya will not come to the United States and try to kill Americans?

Will history record that Obama and Clinton were keen strategic thinkers when it came to advancing the interests of the United States in North Africa?

Hardly.

Yet history should recall the Obama-Clinton policy toward Libya as one of the defining elements of Obama's administration.

Eighteen months after Obama announced that the U.S. was intervening in Libya's civil war to enforce "the writ of the international community," radical Islamic terrorists attacked the poorly secured State Department compound in Benghazi and the CIA "annex" there.

They killed four Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.

In the more than seven years that have passed since that attack, Libya has remained in chaos.

A civil war continues there, and terrorists operate on Libyan territory.

The State Department's latest annual report on terrorism in Libya, which was released this month and covers calendar year 2018, makes this clear.

"Terrorist groups continued to exploit the country's political instability and limited government presence, and some groups have integrated themselves within local communities -- particularly in the South," said the report.

"ISIL-Libya and al-Qa'ida-aligned terrorists carried out dozens of attacks throughout 2018," the report said. "Methods included suicide bombings, VBIEDs, ambushes, kidnappings, and targeted assassinations."

"National police and security forces are fragmented, are inadequately trained and equipped, and lack clear reporting chains and coordination mechanisms," it said. "Libya's military forces are similarly weak and fragmented. Non-state armed groups often overmatch formal security structures."

For much of the past year, Khalifa Hifter and his forces have laid siege to the Libyan capital of Tripoli and the largely impotent UN-backed government that resides there. Hifter is a 75-year-old Libyan military officer who fled to the United States during Gadhafi's reign and became a U.S. citizen. He returned to Libya during the rebellion and led forces that eventually took control over the eastern Mediterranean coast of Libya -- including Benghazi.

"Mr. Hifter vowed to rid Libya of Islamists of all kinds, and he quickly attracted support from Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia," The New York Times reported in April. "All three had aligned themselves in a regionwide campaign to crush the Muslim Brotherhood-style political movements that had appeared poised to ride Arab Spring elections to power."

So, which international power is aligning itself with this would-be Libyan leader today?

Vladimir Putin's Russia.

"The Russians have intervened on behalf of the militia leader Khalifa Hifter, who is based in eastern Libya and is also backed by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and, at times, France," The New York Times reported on Nov. 5.

The Times reported that "Russian mercenaries, including skilled snipers" are now engaged in the battle for Tripoli.

"The snipers are among about 200 Russian fighters who have arrived in Libya in the last six weeks, part of a broad campaign by the Kremlin to reassert its influence across the Middle East and Africa," said The Times.

"We came. We saw. He died," said Hillary Clinton.

And President Obama and his secretary of state helped put Libya on a path to become a terrorist haven and then become, perhaps, a renewed friend of Russia on the Mediterranean coast.

What was the outcome from the US attack on Libya?

Easy.

Soros, Obama and Hillary became richer.

Wonder what cut they received of the gold?

The quote from Hillary should be accompanied by the video. Her cackle at the end is quite chilling.

And, as Kadafi predicted, Obama and Hillary uncorked the human tidal wave of invaders that flooded across the Mediterranean into Europe. The decision to topple the Libyan government along with the US fueling the endless Syrian war caused much of the Muslim invasion of the EU.

We should not forget that Gadhafi had been very appeasing and helpful to the US since Saddam got pulled out of that spider hole. Gadhafi basically surrendered to US interests immediately after that was televised.

I’ve always wondered, what changed? Why did we help get a useful leader overthrown.

Another thought: the video where Gadhafi was murdered is horrific. Imagine if Trump said “we came we saw he died” about any world leader, with or without that video. Cankles herself would be outraged in the media.

In the eyes of the political elites, we are Lybia. Gun running, war lords, safe zone cities, insurgent groups, money laundering, and thugs for hire. And what at this point difference does that make? None.

For half a day after the attack at Benghazi, the two biggest mouths in the world, Obama and Hillary, were not heard from.

In fact, they went into hiding.

Why?

They were afraid that their crimes in Libya, murder and theft, were about to be made known to the people of The United States.

But, they rallied.

They had hoodwinked the Republicans about Libya.

They threatened to expose the Republican foolishness.

“Yes, we murdered and stole in Libya, but you didn’t stop us! Prosecute us and we’ll let everyone see how stupid you have been!”

And the Republicans turned and walked away.

Why do you think all these Republican leaders quietly left?

Boehner, Ryan?

Here’s the details behind Obama/Hillary/Libya.....not as high-minded as they’d like you to think.

QUESTION Why did Sidney Blumenthal, the former journalist Bill Clinton White House aide, and Clinton Foundation employee send Hillary a series of detailed memos and reports about Libya beginning in 2011?
...

ANSWER Blumenthal sent the emails as a “quid pro quo” to free up classified State Department financial intelligence to help Libya recover as much as $66 billion spirited offshore by slain strongman Moammar Gadhafi.

Out of that, Blumenthal, and his business associates, stood to gain a brokers’ cut of perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars.

...but that only touches the surface of Blumenthal’s Libya scheme..

ITEM Records posted online by the FBI indicate that it did little to investigate allegations from private sources about a scheme in which sub rosa associates of Obama’s Secy of State, Hillary Clinton, tried to exploit their connection to her to profit from the turmoil in Libya in 2011.

ITEM The FBI received the allegations in June 2016———around the same time it launched an exhaustive, three-year investigation of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia based, in part, on information from private sources connected to Democrats that in the main would prove to be false – the Steele dossier.
...

“What cut they received of the gold?”

I would say at least $34,000,000,000 in cash.

That’s how much Hillary “lost” from the State Department.

That money went to keep people quiet about the murder and theft by Soros, Obama and Hillary in Libya.

That doesn’t include the military material that Obama “lost” in Libya.

Soros, Obama and Hillary used the military of the US to murder and steal for themselves in Libya.

They then used US Taxpayer dollars to keep everyone quiet about their murder and theft.

You know that work you did? The work you did to pay your federal taxes?

That’s right.

Soros and Obama and Hillary used your work to pay for their murdering and thieving.

And the US media covers it all up for their cut.

BACKSTORY Sid Blumenthal was banned from US govt employment by Obama (although some think this is another of St Obama’s holier-than-thou ruses)

At the same time Blumenthal was pushing Secy of State Clinton to all-out war in Libya, suck-up Sid was privately pushing his business interests WRT contracts with the "new" Libyan government — a government that would exist only after US military intervention in Libya that deposed Qaddafi.

ITEM--Blumenthal was engaged in massive conflicts of interest since he was simultaneously (a) being paid by The Clinton Foundation, (b) paid by Hillary's 2016 PAC organizers, and, (3) paid by businesses w/ interests in Libya.

If Secy Clinton knew all that, then her actions in circulating memos composed by Blumenthal were egregious. If she did not know, her recklessness is subject to US laws.

<><> How did classified info get into Sid's possession? Did he pass it on to anyone else? Did he sell it to anyone else?

============================================

Blumenthal kept urging Hillary to bomb Libya b/c he had profit-making business interests predicated on a post-Khadaffi Libyan govt. <><> Sid cunningly used scare tactics----telling Hillary that Obama would lose reelection if the US didn't bomb Libya.

Amazingly, the obedient Hillary passed on this information to Obama.....did O know it came from a person he banned from govt employment?

==========================================

Remember, the real Libyan scandal is how the US wound up bombing the troops of another United Nation's recognized government without a ‘by your leave’ from Congress.

As long as Khadafi was anti US, no problem.

As soon as he mellowed an became somewhat useful, the Left’s leaders in the US pounced.
