GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) A pair of Israeli airstrikes targeted senior Islamic Jihad commanders in Gaza and in Syria early on Tuesday, escalating Israels confrontation with Iran across the region and threatening to unleash another devastating round of cross-border violence with Palestinian militants.
In eastern Gaza, the Israeli strike killed Bahaa Abu el-Atta and his wife, setting off a furious barrage of dozens of rocket attacks reaching as far as the Tel Aviv heartland as Islamic Jihad vowed further revenge. The Israeli military said Abu el-Atta was the mastermind of recent attacks against it and the militant groups top commander in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Syrian officials said an Israeli airstrike in the capital, Damascus, targeted another Islamic Jihad commander, Akram al-Ajouri, who was not harmed.

Yes, the article is slanted in only one way.
The headline starts it off, with “Islamic Jihad Commander killed in Gaza home.” But I guess I can’t complain. I’d slant it another way: “Terrorist Rat Leader Killed in Gaza Nest.”
Another report said el-Atta was found dead on the sidewalk outside the home and the body of his wife was found in a school across the street. Wonder if she walked there.
Great feel good story of the morning.
May he rest in pieces!!!
..................
Watching FOX on this last evening and as they are showing Bibi making the announcement, they (British affiliate on scene) was referring to Israel as "assassinating" the (ahem)... "Islamic Jihad commander". Like assassinating an Islamic terrorist is a bad thing? I do not recall seeing the term "assassinate" used when referring to Bin Laden's or al-Baghdadi's demise at the hands of the U.S. military.
It was my impression that the report was heavily loaded with an anti-Israel narrative.
Welcome to hell, Mr. Atta. You’ll be bunking in a cell with Mohammad Atta
