Longtime Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) announced Monday that he will not seek reelection next year.
King said in a statement on Facebook that “after 28 years of spending 4 days a week in Washington, D.C., it is time to end the weekly commute and be home in Seaford."
"This was not an easy decision. But there is a season for everything and Rosemary and I decided that, especially since we are both in good health, it is time to have the flexibility to spend more time with our children and grandchildren," King said.
"My daughter’s recent move to North Carolina certainly accelerated my thinking," he added. His daughter, former Hempstead Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney, resigned from office earlier this year from office and was replaced by another Republican in last week’s election.

He’s had his moments, both good and bad. IIRC, he defended Bubba during impeachment. Generally a RINO, though; you’re right.
We need Rs because the winners control the committees. We don’t want Ds in charge of important committees.
How much do you know about the 2nd District and local GOP politics? Who are the potential GOP candidates to replace King? Uninformed comments serve no useful purpose.

28 years is too long. He should have retired 21 years ago. If you leave it up to the politicians, they’ll milk it for as long as they can. Term limits need to be put in place.
You used the word, not me. Just because King’s daughter moved to NC, for whatever reason, doesn’t extrapolate to all Trump voters leaving or contemplating leaving. Are you living in Zambia?
I have no real problem with RINO’s from liberal areas. What drives me nuts are RINO’s from deep RED states! I prefer Susan Collins to a lib Dem and way more than Mittens!
