CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Having decided it’s time to abandon her crisis-torn homeland, Yenika Calderon spreads out her worldly possessions in the middle of a flea market in Venezuela’s capital, hoping to pocket enough money to give her young family a fresh start far away in Spain.
Millions of Venezuelans have already left on similar journeys in recent years, and many of those planning to follow are putting their hopes in street-side markets that are popping up across Caracas.
Calderon, 41, has trekked to one of the markets every Sunday in recent weeks, haggling with customers over prices for her favorite handbags and her son’s baby clothes. Inside, she chokes back emotions, forcing herself to focus instead on what a fresh start will do for her 10-month-old son, Gael, diagnosed with Down syndrome.
“There are no options for him here,” Calderon said. “I want to be able to go to the supermarket and get the best milk for my son. Here, I can’t.”

A warning for all the idiots who are willing to let the government confiscate all guns, this is the results. The 2nd amendment is there not for your right to hunt, it’s for your protection from a tyrannical government. Venezuela is just one of the nations that has lost that right.

Communists are well known for putting up fences around their countries to keep people in. Doing what you wonder about would be in that vein.
Im sure you could get some good deals if you went down there. Religious items, art works. Marjorie Post, heiress of Post cereal went to Russia in the 1930s when the commies were selling priceless Orthodox religious relics at bargain prices and put them in her estate in Hillwood in DC.
If she did vote socialist in the past, I wonder if she will continue to vote socialist in her new land (assuming she survives until then).
Sanders is a selfish person, espousing a pseudo-egalitarian system of government that actually empowers the few at the expense of the many. He’s truly an idiot.
While poor and middle class American 18+ year-olds were fighting and dying in the jungles and swamps of Vietnam, this privileged POS was taking classes at the U of Chicago. He’s scum. Total, unadulterated scum. As a Jew, he should have been happy to serve in a military that stopped another horrible POS, Hitler. Instead, he extols the virtues of another horrible POS, Marx, whose hate and resentment-driven drivel has led to the deaths of 100s of millions.
How is it that so many in our nation are blind to truth and what is real? How is it that a nation founded on the principles of freedom is now filled with cowards who would trade their freedom for the promises of narcissists who want to control them?

This is happening in NJ as well; a lot of idled Americans (especially tradesmen) are selling off their tools at flea markets and online, and all types of Americans are selling their home furnishings (furniture, utensils, appliances) in the same manner. We are watching the evacuation of a region - and you’re right, you can get good deals. There are some exceptions: The Third World “replacement Americans” have little use for sporting goods (though Latinos buy fishing gear), antiques/collectibles, and “Americana” in general; they are more into essentials.
This has mirrored death in retail in the NYC area; when it was in the news recently that the “American Dream” mall was finally opening in the NJ Meadowlands (after more than a decade of delays, with the mall completed and standing idle), it was clear that the focus was no longer a retail mall (we have plenty of them already, and they are struggling). It is now more of an “entertainment center” (complete with paying for parking); like the retail malls, it needs another source of revenue besides shoppers coming in and buying merchandise. Food itself seems to be a growing share of business in this area, as more and more single, childless Americans outsource their food prep to Third World replacements.
Despite the exodus of Americans (and their employers), multi-family housing is still being built on every patch of land; the elites are determined to keep an underclass of consumers here - especially for the public school industry - and they’ll accept it as an improvement over whatever sh!thole they called home three months ago. NJ and NY would be losing a LOT more electoral votes without the exploding illegal populations, hence the insistence they be counted in the census.
If you're not in Spain, you probably don't have to worry.
I asked the same thing for eight years.
