In a move with no precedent in New York City history Mayor Michael Bloomberg will shut down after today the worship services of scores of what he calls “these religious groups.” At least 55 churches and synagogues are affected.

On his weekly radio program Bloomberg was adamant.

Bloomberg also said he dismissed religious freedom concerns by legislators in Albany. "I don't know what's going to happen in Albany. I can just tell you what's happening here. This is the last Sunday that these religious organizations will be able to have worship services

One for each state? Mr. Bloomberg will never be elected President. Us deplorables don’t have any influence on who the Demonrats nominate, unless Mr. Bloomberg picks up support from our reaction to him. Mr. Bloomberg: In the next world, you’re on your own.

Related article. Apparently it was about blocking access to public facilities, especially schools, for use by religious groups for worship services.

And a facial First Amendment violation. If you open your facilities for public use, you cannot discriminate against religious institutions.

Just pointing out this is old news. It is a good reminder, and seriously the ‘culture war’ battle has been lost and lost for a long time. Not necessarily The War - it’s truly not up to us....nevermind. Hope yet remains.

Exactly. Jefferson did write about the “wall of separation”, the intent was clear. No state religion would be permitted.

Dems like to rewrite the Constitution and find imaginary penumbras.
