With certain federal district courts operating with a profound number of judicial vacancies, court leaders are increasingly going public with the need to fully populate their benches. The most recent salvo has come from Chief Judge Virginia Phillips of the Central District of California, who wrote a letter to Senators Lindsey Graham, Dianne Feinstein, and Kamala Harris, urging them to find ways to fill the district’s vacancies.
The Central District of California, encompassing Los Angeles and environs, is authorized by federal law to have 28 active district judges. The Judicial Conference of the United States recently concluded that in fact, the district needs 38 full-time active judges to meet its workload. But the district is currently operating with only half that number (and nine formal vacancies). The last new judge was confirmed back in 2014.

Yes, Trump has 13 nominees PENDING in Lindsey Graham’s Judiciary Committee... all 13 are in “Waiting for Committee Hearing” status. In other words, they are going nowhere. They are blocked by California’s DemocRAT Senators aided by Lindsey Graham’s Blue Slip process.
Trump has not had a single California District Court Judge nominee get confirmed or even get out of Graham’s Committee. Thank God that TRUMP IS STANDING FIRM and not submitting nominees that Feinstein and Heels-up Harris want and demand.
This sorry situation is owed to LINDSEY GRAHAM’S COWARDICE or maybe it’s simply GRAHAM’S COMPLICITY with the DemocRATS.
I agree they need to be filled......with 35 year old genuine conservative judges.

That’s 13 CALIFORNIA District Court nominees. He, of course, has other nominees for other states who are also being blocked by the Blue Slip process.
Lindsey Graham is upholding the traditional blue slip rule that a California judge must be approved by one of the leftist California senators. Of course they won’t approve a Conservative. Grassley also respected the non binding Blue Slip rule.
Graham and McConnell just need to cancel the blue slip, it doesn’t even require a vote , it is just a tradition not a law.
Sorry... Cannot help being suspicious when of lots of communists vote for any candidate... Particularly for that Ninth Circuit... Very suspicious that their most treasured and dependable court would be filled so easily...
Name them, I am sure Federalist has good list to share. Then, McConnell should get them approved by end of year. Just do it!
Complicity.
I love hearing the Eastern District judges whine. Sure it would be nice if Senators can no longer hold up district court appointments. The next best thing, though, is to make the existing judges suffer. This is a can’t lose IMO.
