I’ve dated two women who were ex army. An officer and an enlisted.

On more than one occasion, they each laughingly recalled stories of how they couldn’t do basic infantry training tasks, and were constantly looked after and assisted by the male soldiers.

I did ask each if they thought women should be in the army, and they were both very adamantly in favor it, despite having just relayed stories of why they shouldn’t be.

I know there are women who are capable. I know there are men who are not. The standards should be the standards. If I am in a place where I need to be dragged from the field...I would appreciate having a team mate capable of doing that without getting both of us killed.

Equality means being of equal value.

You’re describing a military that hasn’t been serious about itself in years.

The brutal truth here is that when you turn your military into nothing more than an armed Peace Corps, and assign them to do generation-long nation-building campaigns in Third World dumps, it doesn’t really matter all that much WHO you enlist.

It’s almost as if women don’t rely on logic...

Being in the military is one thing. Being in the ground combat arms is another thing. Lots of jobs in the military that the average woman can do just fine. Humping packs and ammo over hill and dale and then engaging the enemy in a heavy firefight is not one of them.
