WASHINGTON, DC Young seniors in the early stages of dementia, including Alzheimers disease, are a step closer to much needed support programs available under the Older Americans Act [OAA] with the passage in the House of Representatives earlier this week of the OAA Reauthorization, reports the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC].
The Reauthorization legislation would expand access to some OAA services to individuals under 60 years of age who suffer from early onset of the illness. It now goes to the Senate for a vote where it has broad-based bipartisan backing.
The onslaught of dementia and Alzheimers disease, in particular, has had a devastating impact on our nation in recent years. It is now the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. The number of people afflicted by Alzheimers is fast approaching six million, including hundreds of thousands of individuals under the age of 65, according to AMACs president Dan Weber.
Weber points out that in addition to the tragic consequences the disease has on its victims and their caregivers; it also has a major negative effect on the U.S. economy. In fact, he says, it is the most expensive illness plaguing America today, more costly than cancer and heart disease.
House Passes Legislation Allowing Access to Aid For Younger Victims of Alzheimers Disease, Reports AMAC
Disastrously stupid, as fatty acids are crucial for myelein and nerve health in the brain and nervous system (there have been big explosions in M.S., R.A. and ALS as well).
Wonder how many in Congress have been or should be diagnosed with this?
most of the house and almost half of the Senate
Pretty sure you can’t diagnose Alzheimers until you are dead and autopsy the brain..but perhaps that has changed
Yes! I meant to include eggs. Another on the suicidal "bad for you" list for an entire generation. I remember those William Shatner Promise margarine ads from the late 70s. Insanity. Nutrients and supplements are a whole other issue...and again the medical "experts" screwed us by relentlessly smearing supplements in service of Big Pharma.
“Use of statins is a huge contributor to Alzheimer’s. The brain is about 80% cholesterol. Statins suppress cholesterol and coQ10. The royal road to Alzheimer’s. Egg yolks and grass fed butter are fine sources of healthy dietary cholesterol.”
Statins for sure, and there’s also a theory that moderate to high carb diets don’t help either.
My ldl was climbing and doc wanted me to take statins. Instead, I read
Wheat Belly, in which Dr Davis said that LDL was directly related to consumption of wheat and any GMO grain products. He said to eat steak, butter and eggs instead.
So I did. LDL went down 40 points in six weeks. My doctor was happy. And listened when I told him how that happened.
So, I’m out of the prescription drugs business. Even so, some other medical people try to tell me to take statins.....just because. I tell them to go suck rocks.
I read recently that there are certain markers for Alzheimers that can at least predict that you’ll get it. If you have them, the disease can come on fairly quickly.
To add that cholesterol is crucial to a healthy brain while doctors prescribe statin drugs that serve to starve the brain.
Im just surprised the Democrap House passed a damn thing.
