Smuggling gangs in Mexico have repeatedly sawed through new sections of President Trump’s border wall in recent months by using commercially available power tools, opening gaps large enough for people and drug loads to pass through, according to U.S. agents and officials with knowledge of the damage.
The breaches have been made using a popular cordless household tool known as a reciprocating saw that retails at hardware stores for as little as $100. When fitted with specialized blades, the saws can slice through one of the barrier’s steel-and-concrete bollards in a matter of minutes, according to the agents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the barrier-defeating techniques.
After cutting through the base of a single bollard, smugglers can push the steel out of the way, allowing an adult to fit through the gap. Because the bollards are so tall — and are attached only to a panel at the very top — their length makes them easier to push aside once they have been cut and are left dangling, according to engineers consulted by The Washington Post.

Won't work every home in Mexico would have an extension cord attached to it.
When they cut through the slat they would hit the rod. The steel rod would spin and be very difficult to cut.
Of course, you could counter this by locking the hanging, free-spinning rod and then cut through it.
It's an arms race.

No, not really. A) We don’t want them stepping foot in the US, and B) this suggests it isn’t just a few, but can be a new one busted through overnight pretty much anywhere.
May explain why Trump was reportedly advocating with his electrification, etc., as means to make the wall actually work. Israel hasn’t built the monster walls it has without cause and need.

All fences and barriers must be guarded.
All the fence / wall does, is to slow down an attacker by say 10-30 min.
The defender designs in a response time to counter the threat.

Then why weren’t they detected and stopped before they made the hole?
Something isn’t working right if they can make holes in the wall without being stopped.
If the Wall didn’t work they wouldn’t need to saw holes in it.

Motion sensitive explosives in these areas should prove advantageous.
Walls are nice, but walls are useless if undefended. And walls will fail if the attractive nuisance behind them is sufficiently attractive. We must end the attractant: free medical care, free education, welfare, driver licenses, jobs paid under the table, etc. Until we do that, we will have an illegal immigration problem.
