Most Americans believe that the House-led Democrat impeachment effort is politically motivated and not based on legitimate legal concerns, the McLaughlin & Associates October Poll released last week revealed.
The McLaughlin & Associates National Survey, taken October 17-22 among 1,000 likely voters, found that the majority of Americans believe the Democrat-led impeachment effort is politically motivated.
Respondents were asked, Do you think that Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats are moving forward with their impeachment inquiry against President Trump mainly for political reasons to stop him from being re-elected or mainly for legal reasons?
The majority, 52 percent, said Democrats are moving forward with the inquiry mainly for political reasons, while just over one-third, 36 percent, said it is based on legitimate legal concerns.
Respondents were also asked about the House leaderships failure to hold a full House vote on the impeachment inquiry.
Historic precedent has always been that to begin an impeachment inquiry the House of Representatives has always held a vote, the survey stated.
Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are now breaking with precedent to conduct a purely partisan impeachment. In your opinion do you think that unless Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats hold a vote, the President is right NOT to cooperate with this inquiry? it asked.
Forty-seven percent said the president is right not to cooperate with the inquiry while 33 percent said no. The polls margin of error of +/- 3.1
On Monday, Democrats announced that the House will vote Thursday to formalize procedures for the next phase of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, the Washington Post reported.
House Republicans have decried the impeachment inquiry over the lack of transparency, particularly when it comes to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiffs (D-CA) secret impeachment lair, which roughly two dozen House Republicans stormed last week

1.) Democrats were pushing towards impeaching Trump just a mere month after he was sworn in.
2.) They failed to impeach him on Dec. 6th, 2017, failed again two other times, and managed to garner only 58 yes votes on Dec. 6th, 2017, yet many still have no idea this vote occurred and that it was an open and transparent process from beginning to end. It should be this way now.
3.) Adam Schiff and other Democrats lied to us for over 2 straight years that they had incontrovertible evidence of Russian collusion yet the Mueller Report said there was no evidence of Russian collusion with Mueller himself saying this. The Mueller Report did not definitively declare there was evidence of obstruction of justice.
4.) Democrats later abruptly dropped this iteration of their impeachment attempt using the Mueller Report.
5.) The 1st whistleblower, a registered Democrat who was trotted out for supposed information about a Ukraine phone call lied about not meeting with Schiff beforehand and Schiff lied about this as well. Schiff just recently apologized through Sam Stein on MSNBC for these atrocities.
6.) The 1st whistleblower complaint looks like it was written by lawyers and for lawyers, is riddled with errors & inconsistencies, and is full of hearsay. It is loaded with terminology used by attorneys and not by intelligence agents.
7.) The 2nd whistleblower then miraculously showed up and was said by Democrats to have 1st hand knowledge, but the 1st whistleblower had already provided this information second hand so this was yet another bust for Democrats.
8.) Now Bill Taylor, a past staffer for Democrats, once under Obama , once for another Democrat, also miraculously shows up, and his testimony crumbled under cross-examination.
I am beginning to think Democrats decided they would impeach Trump the moment he won the electoral college and it was called in his favor on either the alphabet networks, Fox, or on NPCNN or MSNPC.
You are kidding right? Beginning to think....?
Obviously you have never read this article. From April 2016, The Politico.

The political Left has been gunning for Trump since the day he won the nomination. They’ve been growing increasingly frantic, and now bother very little with even the semblance of legality.
If you start on day one (since the Inauguration), there’s been at least a dozen occasions where the normal Republic President would have folded up his tent and given up...walking away. The Stormy business, the fight over tax records, the list goes on and on.
Trump grew up in New York City and has learned how to be tough on competition. Trump supporters now applaud this type attitude. For Democrats, it’s a mess. You can poll black males right now, and around 40-percent are pro-Trump. If they show up and vote...it’s curtains for the Democrats and long-term goals.
I thank God every day for President Trump. If we only had a few hundred more tough Republicans like him, the DemocRATs would have to give up campaigning through personal destruction and actually have to run on issues.
I do not know how leftists get so much credit for being kind and compassionate when those who destroy people for political gain are neither.
Yeah. Agreed. A lesser man would have quit long time ago. I think the April 2016 (7 months before the election) Politico article describes in detail the lefts hatred of Trump and outlines a roadmap to destroy Trump and his family. That’s when the impeachment BS began. 7 months before the election.
To date, there has been 4 votes in the House to impeach. 4 times, the vote failed miserably.
The rat party is desperate. Like a cornered rat. The rats they are. I am thinking come Thursday’s vote, they fail again. It’s the only way Pelosi can save herself. But honestly, the rats are so filled with hate now that I can see the vote to proceed passing.
How about a poll that shows that if Trump is removed by the coup plotters, the people will withdraw the consent of the governed and the traitors will be hunted down and executed for their crimes against America? Dreams.
“I am beginning to think Democrats decided they would impeach Trump the moment he won the electoral college”
Ya THINK? “Beginning”? Have you been in a coma for three years? It was obvious they were setting the stage for impeachment in the event of a possible Trump win when Hillary brought up Russia in the third debate. The minute she mentioned that, I heard, “ding! ding! ding!” and realized THAT’s what they’re up to!
I’d love to shake that man’s hand someday.
God blessed us with him.
People do have to sleep sometime.
Now the Offical who reported that he heard the call and was “concerned” worked with Hunter Biden. He was concerned because he was being outed himself.
Yeah but come on this is a biased poll slanted towards the right.
If these questions were going the other way we would scream that it is garbage.
This is garbage, unfortunately
Duh!
They could not believe Her Thighness lost and they were not going to let PDJT reside in the White House.
3 years later he is still fighting and winning more support from the middle because the commies have a full on push now that is insane.
Great summary, and as another stated in this thread, prior to the general election we had Hillary Rottencrotch positioning a Russian angle during the debates. Creates a loud echo of her questioning if Trump would accept the results of the election.
I heard talking heads on TV saying that if Trump managed to win in 2016, they could just turn around and impeach him. That was long BEFORE the election was over.
