Police Organizations Torch 2020 Democrat's Gun Confiscation Plan As 'Asinine, Ridiculous, and Likely Unconstitutional'

Former Rep. Robert Francis O’Rourke (D-NM) (aka ‘Beto’) is the left-wing blowhard on guns that liberals fear. Why? Well, it’s because he gives up the playbook and he did so on a national stage. You all know about his plan to confiscate so-called scary guns from the hands of the law-abiding citizenry. AR-15 rifles, one of the most popular in the U.S., and AK-47s are the two scary rifles anti-gun liberals want out of the hands of civilians. Only the government can be trusted with guns is the de facto position of the Democratic Party—and Beto did a crackerjack job in picking Kent State University to make that pitch. Because nothing says trust government with guns than a site where the National Guard shot and killed four students in 1970.

SMDH! Uh, matt, I know El Paso is real real close to NM but it is still a part of TX so bobby frankee is from TX, not NM. NM has enough problem children in government without adding this assclown. Butt, we get your point.

A few selective firings among the troops, primarily in liberal cities, will correct that outlook. /s

In 1976, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police published a position paper on gun control and among the things it stated were that it called firearms registration “administratively unrealistic and unworkable” and went on to say that “the licensing, serialization, and registration of firearms will not act as a deterrence to violence and will not necessarily identify the person perpetrating the crime” as well as “cessation of firearms sales will not remove them from those who can do violence”.

Seems like police organizations today would echo those comments and observations as stated in that paper.

The only problem with this is that I don’t see those same groups “rallying against” red flag laws.

As soon as a confiscation program gets rebranded under the color of law, they will fall right in line and confiscate.

Cops will do what they’re told because pensions and bennies. The rank’n’file FBI showed us all their true colors these last 3 years. All local police, we should expect the same.

"All local police, we should expect the same."

People say the pen is mightier than the sword but the pen is nothing compared to the Almighty Dollar and when push comes to shove, the Constitution and Law are just the pen.

If I were a confiscator, I'd be ramping up my life insurance and AD&D 'bennies' to the max.

But Canada went ahead full steam with registration only to cancel it decades later. Complete fiasco.

Agree, but unlikely. According to the article, those ridiculing the proposal are members of police union, being regular police officers. While this is refreshing, as is the statement of the TX sheriff, and selected others, the attitude of organizations representing chiefs of police might be quite different. As you suggest, those chiefs in the liberal areas are little more than liberal ventriloquist dummies who parrot the same gun confiscation in the guise of “common sense gun safety laws” as their masters. This, of course, places them out of touch with those who do the actual work of policing, but better placed for higher political sinecures as democrats.

I agree. Furthermore when people when say one thing, they may be softening us up for the reality that they will do just that.

Could you imagine an official saying that they would? Why phone it in? They’ll say they aren’t confiscating AS they are doing it.

IMO, if they try it, they will just issue “Armed and Dangerous” bench warrants and start picking off the gun owners one at a time.

You’re out driving with wife and kiddies and the trooper behinds you lights up. You gonna get in a gun battle with him with them present?
