Chinas growth slows to weakest level in 27 years
Chinas economy expanded at its slowest rate in nearly three decades in the third quarter, hit by cooling domestic demand and a protracted US trade war, data showed today.
Chinese gross domestic product expanded 6% in the three months from July to September, down from 6.2% in the second quarter, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The reading in line with an AFP survey of 13 analysts is the worst quarterly figure since 1992 but within the governments target range of 6-6.5% for the whole year.
Chinas economy grew by 6.6% in 2018.
The national economy maintained overall stability in the first three quarters, said NBS spokesman Mao Shengyong.

Their growth rate is way below what is officially reported.
“Just saying ...(still double ours)
Nice thing about dictatorships. ... you can take them at their word.
You trot out a guy who lives in China as a expert.
Wow.
Thanks.
No it isnt
Our numbers have real data behind it. China puts out whatever it wants. It counts its ghost cities. It makes crap up
China makes almost everything, in every store, in America.
For real.
Yeah, and Cuba has the best school AND health systems on Earth.
Just ask Michael Moore.
Good Grief!
It is double ours only if you trust the ChiCom bean counters. There is no denying that China has grown very quickly and will continue to do so but the truth is somewhere below the official numbers. I think the only possible way to get a clear answer is to analyze those statistics of the Chinese do not manipulate like shipping stats and others.
Wow, what a great read. Thank you for sharing.
I always suspected that these GDP numbers were cooked. This professor is confirming that.
I really try to Buy American, but it is so very hard to do.
Yep. First thing thought of. Everyone knows they lie like rugs regarding economic stats, yet they parrot what the ChiComs say as if it's the gospel.
We dont have two generations of guys with no hope of ever finding a wife like they do. The one child thing really skewed their demographics. They need to create enough jobs to keep all those guys busy or they are I trouble. Having millions of young guys with no hope of a future sitting around unemployed has to be a concern.
1. They are still converting peasant into factory slaves so they get more of a GDP boost when the happens.
2. Never trust the Chicoms to tell the truth about anything. They are like Democrats.
Was talking to my daughter about how fridge magnets don’t work on our “stainless steel” fridge, because it is really plastic. Said in my day things were made of real wood and real metal. Now its all Chinese plastic.
Remember when East Germany's per capita GDP was bigger than West Germany's?
Growth is highly misleading. As anyone knows dealing with physics, the last 1% is nearly impossible.
Cutting a second off a quarter mile with a drag race car is easy. Once you are at 10 sec, very hard. Once you reach 5 sec, a hundredth of a second is considered a major victory.
China had so far to go that getting 10% growth was not that hard if you applied just a couple of free market principles. Meanwhile, we are at that 90% level trying to squeeze a little more out.
Not even Chairman Xi Jinping himself knows exactly what China’s growth is, so any figures we hear are all lies. The entire Chinese government apparatus still has the same soviet-style structure and hierarchy as when Mao established it. It is set up to transmit lies up the chain of command.
East Germany did not sell West Germany a darned thing.
Nothing.
HUGE difference. We in America are now completely sold out.
Even here on FR, there are tons of apologists for China.
You are one of those never trumper trolls eh? Rolcon!!
I am tired of you jackasses.
