House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) on Friday introduced a resolution that would require the committees overseeing the impeachment inquiry to allow outside members of the House to have access to the proceedings, depositions and transcribed interviews.
Its introduction comes after a group of House conservatives attempted to gain access to a closed-door impeachment hearing on Wednesday. The conservative lawmakers were rebuffed because they did not sit on the House Intelligence Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee or the House Oversight and Reform Committee.
"The stakes are too high for Chairman [Adam] Schiff [D-Calif.] and Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi's [D-Calif.] impeachment proceedings to continue in secret. The American people's elected representatives have been denied access to relevant documents and the opportunity to attend depositions and transcribed interviews, Scalise said in a statement.
Chairman Schiff wants to impeach President Trump behind closed doors and clearly has no intention of conducting a fair and open process. We demand transparency. For the sake of our republic, Members of Congress must have access to proceedings with such monumental and dangerous consequences, Scalise added.

Effort in futility.
Dems won’t allow that to even come up for a vote.
Make third-rate Nancy own the project
Only Republicans would decline to do something because it appears futile.
One would think the idea of a secret impeachment would be a futile effort, but it didn't stop the Democrats from trying it.
In fact, the Democrats were betting that the Republicans wouldn't be as bold as to try to stop it.

What Schiff and Pelosi are engaged in is the kind of stuff that could end up getting them hanged. I hope they realize that.
NO SECRET HEARINGS TO OVERTHROW ELECTIONS
It means only one thing for certain......the democRats are convinced they can’t beat Trump in 2020. Why else would they be so desperate to impeach 12 months before election? Heck it takes around 6-8 months for the process to finish in both houses of congress. So what do they gain? 4-6 months without Trump as POTUS?
If the Rats really want to remove him from office, better time would right after 2020 election.
What needs to happen is the Republicans boycott the proceedings and if they are cited or punished by Pelosi, so be it. Open rebellion to protect the constitution. If these worthless sacks won’t do anything meaningful but showboat to make it look like they are doing something, then to hell with them and primary them out.....all of them!
The House has the power of impeachment. Not the speaker, not a committee. That is why the House votes on an inquiry.
That's right !
There was a chant going on a while back that is actually pretty relevant to all this mess.
“No Justice, No Peace” Time to fight back.
They want secret meetings to waste time, order in Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Happy Hour in reality just wasting Time and Money under the guise of having “Meetings” when they are really just HIDING FROM EVERYONE !!!
It’s almost like growing a spine, but a lot more like a small dog all puffed up and posturing bravely as long as there’s a wrought iron gate behind which he can bark.
