With all the troubles in the land, I'm so glad Mittens has found a cause of real importance.Keeping in mind that for him, the penultimate cause of real importance is - and always will be - Mitt Romney.

Who's gonna pay them? Tuition is already sky high..Why should I, as a Chemistry Major, pay for the compensation for athletes at my school?
and is it for all sports? The tennis team? soccer team? Water Polo team? Think about it...all the athletes in a college to get paid? how much will they be compensated?
I see a docket of lawsuits.
And, as history shows us, as soon as the government is involved, it's gonna get be f'ed up beyond repair.
That's my $.02...oh wait, I'm on the typing team..When do I get my $20.00?

Will they be taxed just like any other wage earner for the salaries, the tuition, and all other benefits regular students don’t receive?

Gotta employ those “inner-city youths” somehow. There is a glut of rappers on the market and the car wash isn’t hiring.

The only two sports that make profits for colleges are football and men's basketball, and even for the only at a few of the major colleges. Everything else runs at a loss paid for by the big two plus tuition. Will colleges be required to pay salaries for women's sports too? For all sports? For the kids on the intercollegiate chess club? Where will all this extra money come from? Higher tuitions and student debt?
When I was in college the university president was desperate to start a football team. Fortunately saner heads prevailed.

One more reason for kids out of high school to just go to a Junior College.

RINO Sen. Romneys hot air is likely for support for a future presidential run, since he undoubtedly knows that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the express power to regulate athlete pay.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.

All this must be in response to the 18+ semi-pro league that’s planned to start up next year. The NFL can draft out of there and the kids don’t have to screw around majoring in basket weaving. The colleges must be worried.
