The Most Disturbing Thing about Joe Biden (April 5, 2019)
National Review ^ | April 5, 2019 | Jack Fowler

Posted on 10/16/2019 2:16:27 PM PDT by bitt

In the #MeTooMaybe hoopla over the former vice president’s hair-sniffing and hand-slipping and personal space-invading, much cataloguing of Joe Biden’s peccadillos has emerged — for example, in Jonah Goldberg’s new column. It’s a handy summary.

But missed in these lists is a deeply troubling — I guess the right word is “lie.” It is one that Biden contrived — or at least perpetuated — over a deeply painful event: the death of his first wife and daughter. The lie hides in plain sight, amongst all the other oddball anecdotes (like his vowing to use his rosary beads as a choking device), maybe because it is so amazingly brazen, and because of its complete lack of being — here, I guess the right word might be “unnecessary.”

The sad story is 29-year-old senator-elect Biden received the horrible call in December, 1972, that there was an accident in which his wife Neilia and baby daughter Naomi were killed, and his young sons Beau and Hunter severely hurt. Mrs. Biden seems to have driven into a busy intersection, into the path of an oncoming truck. Its driver was Curtis Dunn. Investigators found him blameless. Of no surprise, according to his family, his involvement in the deaths of Mrs. Biden and her daughter weighed on Dunn until his own death in 1999.

It was a heartbreaking story all around, and with officials leaving no doubt of the truck driver’s complete innocence, what was the point of doing or saying anything more than letting Neilia and Naomi Biden rest in peace? As for Joe Biden, the tragedy was so utter that the accident’s circumstances were best left unremarked. Never mind unembellished.

But embellished they became. When exactly, we don’t know. Why? That’s a question the answer to which is unfathomable — or if for political purposes, utterly deplorable. For some reason, the evidence shows, in the early 2000s, Joe Biden began to remark in public that his wife had died at the hands of someone who “allegedly . . . drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch.” That Curtis Dunn “was an errant driver who stopped to drink.” That drunk-driver story spread into news accounts. The Dunn family, who had strong sympathy for Biden, was shocked by the sullying of their now-dead father. They wrote the senator and asked him to stop and reminded him of the exonerating investigation. When that didn’t happen, they went public. Per a 2010 Biden profile in The Atlantic:

For many years, he described the driver of the truck that struck and killed his first wife and their daughter in December 1972 as drunk, which he apparently was not. The tale could hardly be more tragic; why add in a baseless charge? The family of the truck driver has labored to correct the record, but Biden made the reference to drunkenness as recently as 2007, needlessly resurrecting a false and painful accusation.

This is truly disturbing. But by our current standards, hair-sniffing rates condemnation, while the false accusation of an innocent dead man, and the embellishment of a personal tragedy — could the Biden tragedy be more tragic? — are forgotten and/or ignored.

This says so much more about Biden the man than any too-close shoulder grasp ever could. It also says plenty about the contrition junkies who influence America’s news cycle, and, as Jim Geraghty pointed out recently, about the media who for many years had dutifully served as Joe Biden’s reputational bodyguard.

@drawandstrike

OK now I’m pissed. I’ve followed US politics for almost 40 years. I started when I was 17 in high school.

I’ve heard/read the tragic “Biden’s wife/baby killed by drunk driver” story so many times, I can’t count them.

And turns out...SURPRISE!... it’s a lie.

Joe Biden made a big deal at the debate defending his son, insisting that as VP he fully carried out US foreign policy.

Joe, Hunter and Hunter's daughter arrive in China. Flying in relatives on the taxpayers' dime indicates
a pleasure trip......not a serious effort to conduct US foreign policy. It became a $1.5 billion pleasure for Hunter.

I don’t know, the eye-thing was kind of creepy.

I expected to see gray matter coming out of his tear ducts, but then I remembered that isn’t something to worry about with him.

If you're a Democrat, Jeff Zucker has ALWAYS got your back.

Well, unless you're Tulsi Gabbard.

Having been in a situation where someone was seriously injured in a collision in which I was not at fault, I can assure you that the accident very likely did weigh heavily on the man who struck Biden’s wife and child. My brother was severely injured by a motorist when he ran between cars and was struck by the motorist. It wasn’t that man’s fault, but it wore so heavily on him that my mother told me the poor man committed suicide some years later because of it.

It is an awful and terrible thing even if you are faultless.

I can only imagine how terrible it must have been for Mr. Dunn’s family to hear his name slandered like that for years after he died, he being unable to defend himself.

That is truly despicable. Biden had to embellish it, probably to gain political advantage to elicit sympathy. Reprehensible. My contempt for Biden knows no bounds.

All the people here who have expressed sympathy for Biden’s mental diminishment these last few months need to become aware of this - this lowlife will need his grave sprinkled on repeatedly.

Agreed. Maybe that’s what qualified him to run for the Senate at such an early age and win.

And it’s disturbing how both parties and the media know all about this but they just don’t cover it. It demonstrates how fake all their supposed social concern is.

Ok, in the video of Joe Biden he distracts attention up by his face pushing towards the lady, while down low sliding his right hand under the little girl’s hair, moving all the way to about a third of the way across her body, until she has to squiggle out of his touch.
Easy to miss if you’re not watching for it, but very clearly distressing for the girl being assaulted.
I’d like to be a whistleblower about this.

A softball Politico story on this does acknowledge that Biden lied about the truck driver, but sort of offers in his defense that he might have "heard rumors" about the truck driver. It links to the 2009 blog post of a first responder named Lou Angeli, who was at the accident scene that day in 1972 and has since passed away himself.

Anyway, if you read the blog post, you discover that Angeli was around 18 or 19, and he responded to the scene despite the fact that he was off-duty and so wasn't supposed to. There was no evidence that the truck driver, who had the right-of-way, was drunk, except that according to Angeli's recollections, the first responders assumed or believed that he was drunk, and forever after, according to Angeli, when any of them happened to meet Biden, they spoke about the accident in that way. Angeli also basically argued that there wasn't proof to rule out that the truck driver had been drunk. And, Angeli had been a volunteer for Biden's Senate campaign who had worked personally with the candidate and his wife.

Biden is now dead man walking. His donors are not wasting their money and are at this time are backing Warren, another very flawed candidate. Soon Trump will turn his guns on phony Warren. Hard to see the Democrats nominating a credible candidate.

The peasantry still aren't being loudly heard on this one.

Some liberal news outlet have admitted that Biden has had a problem with inappropriately touching women *and girls*:

"While Joe Biden has been jokingly depicted as a kooky uncle or Obama’s wacky sidekick or Leslie Knope’s grin-flashing celebrity crush, he’s also got a troubling history of acting weird in public around women who don’t seem entirely on board. This isn’t just based on whispers or rumors; there are so many photos and clips of Biden looming over, or massaging, or gently nuzzling, or whispering to, or kissing women and girls (emphasis added) who don’t seem all that into it."

Democratic Senator Christopher Coons came to Biden's defense when he said something creepy to Coons' daughter:

But he's been creepy with the daughters of Republican senators too and not one of them has spoken up about it to this point.

a truck driver involved in a fatal collision would 95% chance of being tested for alcohol /drugs need to see accident report or was that covered up by biden influence?

Biden’s a stinking little rat and a total liar. People like him cannot help but lie constantly. They pump themselves up with lies never realizing that they themselves are the only one who believes them.

As I’ve posted several times on other threads, Creepy Joe appears to be afflicted with a serious psychological illness known as Frotteurism. This illness causes a paraphilic interest in rubbing against a non-consenting person for sexual pleasure. It often involves touching any part of the body, including the genital area.
