Incorrect. The insane credentialing process is putting a huge burden on the school systems, requiring vast amounts of wasteful training unrelated to most teaching positions. Someone who can balance a checkbook can teach most math classes. Someone who can read well can teach most english courses. Science classes do not need a specialist. PE classes don’t need six years of education in physical fitness.
What is wrong is too much government which is designed by teach unions to force grossly higher pay. We have many young people going through the nearly 8 year process of becoming a teacher (and then the moment they get in the classroom realize that almost everything they learned is absolutely useless.)
And of course, yep, over paid administration and support services (after all, they have to get paid more than the teachers they’re supervising...) Hell, the superintendent of schools in my community (county population of 70,000 or so, TOTAL) rakes in 200 grand a year in compensation. And she wants a cost of living raise. Retroactive.
If you don’t believe that a man can give birth and a woman can have a penis you are unqualified to be a teacher these days.
All that, plus our inability to properly discipline school kids in school makes the job one people dont want. This reason is why lesser-paying private school jobs are desirable - then will still apply disciplinary measures, and can and will kick you out if need be.
