Indian H-1B Visa Workers Protest U.S. Senator, Demand More Green Cards
Breitbart ^ | 14 Oct 2019 | NEIL MUNRO

Posted on 10/15/2019 1:14:28 PM PDT by NobleFree

[...] Many Indians have been imported to take high-tech jobs throughout Durbin’s home state of Illinois. On October 10, roughly 600 of these imported workers turned out to demand passage of Lee’s green card giveaway bill, which is dubbed by advocates the “Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act.” Advocates claimed a turnout of 5,000, but the video shows roughly 600 marchers [...]

Companies have imported roughly 35,000 H-1B workers into Durbin’s Illinois, along with thousands of additional L-1, OPT, and H4EAD workers. Roughly 75 percent of these visa workers are hired in India for a wide variety of U.S. jobs, including healthcare jobs at Southern Illinois Medical Services. But most are hired to maintain and operate computer systems for a wide variety of companies throughout Illinois’s economy.

For example, in 2010, Walgreens hired a U.S. company named Genpact to transfer 500 jobs from Deerfield and Danville, Illinois, to Indian workers. In 2012, Genpact announced that its workers were running the information technology needed by 9,800 Dollar General Corp. stores, including:

supporting point-of-sale (POS) terminals, hand-held terminals, printers, server registers, flatbed and handheld scanners, as well as both pin pad and keypad sets. Genpact is deploying tools for multi-channel delivery which increases the efficiency of overall IT help desk operations and customer relations calls. Dollar General Corporation is the nation’s largest small-box discount retailer.

Walgreen’s payroll savings help to boost its value on the stock market. Genpact’s cheap labor ensures profits for its investors, including Bain Capital. Genpact uses green cards, H-1B, and L-1 visas to bring Indians into U.S. jobs. [...]

Win-win for Durbin.

Campaign donations from the employers/businesses and more (eventual) Rat voters, should they get citizenship.

We are selling out our own country, fouling our only nest, for 30 pieces of silver.

For every H-1B hired, a US college grad gets discouraged. We are eating our own seed corn.

Stop Crony Capitalism.

The problem here is that the politicians don’t represent the people. They could not care less about the people they are supposed to represent.

The pols and elites are looting the country, and have no loyalty to the nation and no civic virtue.

Since the article does not clarify any of this let me tell you what these visa categories are:

H1B - visa sponsored by an employer for a foreign national in a skilled profession. Good for 3 years, extendable for 3 more (and longer under certain conditions).

H4 EAD - Work authorization given to the spouse of an H1B holder. H4 used to allow you to live here but not work. Obama changed that with the stroke of a pen (illegally in all likelihood)

OPT - Visa given to a foreign student after graduation which allows them to work here for a year to gain “practical training”. Can be extended to 3 years for STEM fields. The most widely abused of all of these IMHO.

L1 - Intercompany transfer. Allows a foreign company doing business here to station needed employees at their US operations. For example, Toyota bringing a manager from Japan to oversee one of their US plants would get him an L1. Widely abused as you are only supposed to work for your own company on this visa.

Green Card - Permanent residence, which comes with the right to work. Thanks to damage done by Ted Kennedy in the 60’s these are handed out willy-nilly and with no rhyme nor reason. And stupidly by country of origin. A brilliant engineer from India might have to wait ten years to get one, while a bricklayer in Yemen can walk into our embassy, toss his name in the hat, and perhaps win one immediately.

That is a major reason why young people are glomming on to the idea of student loan forgiveness.

They go into debt for a degree, and then find themselves sitting in a cube next to an H1B holder who got his degree essentially for free in his home country.

It probably didn’t start out as a scam but surely has become one today.

Thanks to damage done by Ted Kennedy....

The Swimmer was just the front man while the villains who cooked up the whole scheme were Emmanuel Cellar and Jacob "Lets Open the Gates" Javits.

A visa is a privilege granted by the people of the United States; it is not a right. No foreigner has a right to demand one.

This bill would die if Trump promised to veto it and campaign against any Republican who supported it. Why isn’t he speaking up?

“demand” — the nerve.

Not “ask” or “hope ‘, but “DEMAND”.

Get rid of them right away. Go back, where they came from.

Depending on the skills these workers have ...Could be because more patents and high end tech would then remain in the US ?

That may be true, but ...

so their a really a shortage of Americans to take those jobs?

Currently there are 3.5 million un- or underemployed STEM-educated American workers ... no shortage.

Patents typically belong to the employer, not the employee.

We should suspend H1-B visas indefinitely.
