Bolton told ex-Trump aide to call White House lawyers about Ukraine pressure campaign

Former national security adviser John Bolton told a former aide to President Trump on Russia to call White House lawyers to warn them about a pressure campaign on Ukraine, House investigators were reportedly told Monday.

Bolton told Fiona Hill, the senior director for Russian and Eurasian affairs, to contact the lawyer for the National Security Council and say that the president's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was involved in the efforts to pressure Ukraine into investigating Democrats, the New York Times reported Monday night.

“I am not part of whatever drug deal Rudy and Mulvaney are cooking up,” Bolton told Hill to tell White House lawyers, according to the testimony reported by the Times.

The former national security adviser had called Giuliani a "hand grenade who's going to blow everybody up" in a previous conversation with Hill, according to the Times.

Don’t be fooled. Rudy was in there trying to cover up his own dirty dealings. Just like Dersh. Trump’s inability to bring in and trust the right team has given opening to these corrupt hangers on.

This characterization of a conversation that was leaked by the Dims has no reason to be believed. Just more BS being leaked from the committee.

This thread illustrates what has become of the Free Republic Forum. Modern day Birchers, No-Nothings, Merchantilists and Isolationist Doves have taken over.

Anyone that supported Goldwater in 1964 and Reagan in 1976 and 1980 is not a Neo-Con. Their hatred of Bolton leads them to accept left wing propaganda as gospel if it makes Bolton look bad.

Still no impeachable offense. What is left out of this recounting is that the Ukrainians were being asked to reopen their own investigation on corruption involving Biden’s son and the role of former Ukraine officials in the whole Russian hoax mess. Which is not the same thing as “...efforts to pressure Ukraine into investigating Democrats,” An important distinction.

Bolton was never a good pick. It should have been clear that when his time was up he would go on TV and everywhere else to badmouth the administration because they didn’t do everything his way.

WTF are you smoking?

If that happens POTUS be probably more than not going down big time and say hello to President Pence. I think it’s very possible now. Too much is already out there and it can’t be walked back.

It doesn't NEED to be walked back.

Everything the President did was well within his Constitutional rights to do.

He will not be convicted in the Senate, if any GOPer wants to stay in office.

Voting to convict is like putting a gun to your senatorial head and pulling the trigger.

Impeachment is political. Politicians want to stay in office. ESPECIALLY the more spineless ones, meaning RINOs.

I don’t have a disagreement with parts of our thoughts there. I do have a problem with him trying to make trouble for Trump on his exit. Yesterday there was a headline mentioning drugs and the Trump calls in connection with Bolton.

It does seem to me he has jumped the shark a bit.

I don’t think of him as a warmonger. If the press he’s getting right now is accurate, he’s a problem.

It is possible they are trying to destroy him so he won’t be a factor in the future.

As I have said previously, he always struck me as a very astute guy.

I’d hate to see him flame out, but I’ve seen others do it.

I’m still keeping an eye on how things progress from here.

How easily we believe what the media feeds us about our guys.

That’s a shame.

All Rudy has been doing is slamming Biden weekend after weekend and honest, who gives a #### what he was doing because he basically destroyed Biden the past month.

A lot of irrational hatred for Rudy on this board

I don’t get it.

A now 20 year ex NYC mayor has such incredible powers that Ukraine bends to his will.

Because the msm says so

Could be, but adding fuel to the fire surrounding Trump’s call to the Ukraine right now does not impress me as the right thing to do.

Oh, I agree. Bolton may not be deep state, but he should keep his big mouth shut.

Goldwater, Reagan, Ashbrook, Kemp, Gramm, Forbes, Santorum, Thompson and Cruz were my choices to either support or vote for in my primary election life. I’ve never voted for a democrat in a general election and I’m the problem?

Oh cmon now. He’s going down and nearly anyone with a functional brain senses, sees and knows it—they are in deep panic mode and staff is doing what they can to bail water. Being in deep denial does not help matters. All hell is about to break lose. I’m just relating facts it seems you can not grasp. His big mouth is what got him in trouble (releasing the transcript, stupid stuff inviting Chinese interference, right there on the WH lawn—he’s giving his aides in the WW, EOB and OEOB heart attacks) and additional impulsive and highly inadvisable Twitter QRM. He simply can’t control his tongue, a fundamental weakness of his, and it will be his own undoing and downfall. Not difficult to predict. Truly his mouth is his own enemy.
