Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr made some absurd comments Thursday night about the Chinese dictatorship and gun violence in America.
The NBA and China have been in the news nonstop ever since the Houston Rockets GM tweeted support for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. You’d think expressing support for democracy instead of communism would be a winning idea. However, the NBA has been dealing with the fallout ever since, and not everybody seems to be on the same page.
Kerr isn’t just not on the same page, but he seems to be under the impression that gun violence in America is comparable to a government that has killed tens of millions of people.

Because he can bounce a ball and throw it through a hoop - sometimes - what makes him an expert on anything? I've seen seals do that.
Like I mentioned on an earlier thread about this story, Steve needs to be reminded of the fact that it would take American criminals (along with the token few Adam Lanzas and Dylan Klebolds) scores of centuries to equal the millions murdered by Mao’s Communist government from 1949 to 1976 (Great Leap Forward, Cultural Revolution, etc). And that this was ensured by a legally disarmed citizenry.
If he’s talking about inner city violence he may be right except those poor people can move.
And he had plenty of time to form what I’m sure he thinks was a ‘gotcha’ response. Sad man to be leading young men on any level.

BTW, in 2017 there were about 17,284 murders in the U.S., about 400 attributed to rifles, fewer than the number attributed to blunt instruments.

Given the fact that his own father was killed in the 1984 Beirut Barracks bombing, it’s hard to understand just how and why he’s so anti-America. I just don’t get it.

I went to the University of Arizona at the same time that Steve Kerr played basketball there. His father’s story was pretty well-know on campus. His father Malcolm Hooper Kerr (October 8, 1931 – January 18, 1984) has a deep state/”public servant” profile. Malcolm Kerr was a university professor specializing in the Middle East and the Arab world. An American citizen, he was born, raised, and died in Beirut, Lebanon. He served as president of the American University of Beirut until he was killed by gunmen in 1984.
I am certain that Steve Kerr was raised as a good little socialist.
