It’s spreading east too. Our illustrious ‘leaders’ put in on the ballot as an initiative in NV and now we are required by law to obtain 50% of the states energy by renewables by 2035. Not sure what the consequences of not making it are. But, pretty sure it ain’t gonna happen. Passed mostly by folks in Las Vegas. The rest of us sad sacks, well too bad for us. :-)

So appliances that use gas are banned. Thus, electric appliances are the alternative. Do these morons not know, or care, where the electricity comes from? Either gas fired or coal fired electrical generation plants. SMH.

...on an already strained electricity grid. Next they’ll only allow electric vehicles and wonder why they keep getting brown outs.

On another thread I just posted about how Vermont mandates 99% renewable by 2050.

I think their goal is to drive out anyone who uses energy to meet that goal.

This is the same city that ordered the cops to stand down when MAGA people were being assaulted outside a Trump rally in 2016.

They’ll get what they deserve.

Let’s see, I can heat the air in my house at the point of use with natural gas and do so with a 97% efficient gas furnace. Or natural gas can be burned at a far away power station whereby 60% of the btu’s are lost in conversion from turning water into steam, and steam into a turbine, and then creating electricity, where 6% is lost in line transmissions and then even more is lost when the electricity is converted into heat again via an electric heat pump, or base board heaters or cadet heaters. They’ll have to generate 3 times more power for every unit of electricity that replaces natural gas. Freaking geniuses there.

As an engineer and contractor in the state of California has been dealing with homeowners for about 30 years now here’s some simple math

for in terms of the cost of heating water or air in the winter one kilowatt hour cost about a quarter one therm is 100,000 BTUs one therm is about one dollar

one therm equals about 30 kWh

in other words it cost about eight times as much to heat space or heat water using Electricity versusnatural gas

Furthermore approximately 60% of the power in the state of California comes from natural gas

to do and so in essence if you’re using electricity you’re using 15% efficient natural gas power plants ( Studied the Canot efficiency) generate your electricity right through all kinds of transformers and powerlines to get to your house with all those losses

and then you’re using a source which is eight times as expensive

way to go to California!

You liberals here in the bay area are just so brilliant are you at saving the planet

San Jose used to be a relatively sane place to live, they used to arrest criminals, now they elect them to councils&committees.

One used to have options as to how one would live.

Nowadays, you vill obey ze ordinances or you vill be dealt with.

From White Elephant Glass Gubamint Pagodas to more homeless thatn anyone would like to admit or witness, the sleepy little village, now run by GooGle&corps ain’t what it used to be.

Unless you can get the whole valley to jump on the bandwagon, it won’t work. The San Jose area is a megalopolis now with several communities abutting each other. If San Jose is onerous to a developer it can simply build across the street which is in another city jurisdiction.

Its easy to commit acts of evil against people when you can convince them that its for their own good and get them to demand that you do it to them.

This story is also a good example of how telling the truth is in fact a lie because the small truth is used to obscure the great lie behind it. Sometimes its a lie of manipulation used to get the populace used to a way of thinking, arrive at a consensus that prepositions their thinking, before the other shoe drops.

This is the point where we are supposed to distract ourselves with others opinions. Well, I dont like the idea of explosive gasses being pumped into my house. It just doesnt seem like a good idea if it can be avoided. This is the part where you argue that there are safeties built in and I say that I want to heat with a wood stove and then you point out that they are banned in many communities etc....but this isnt rwally about that is it? Just arguing minutiae.

Then maybe we can bicker over it as a community concern. First I say that its not safe in earthquake prone dry areas and endangers the community and you say but yhere are safties. Now I offer a fake fig leaf and say its the American right to choose to use it but if a community gets together and chooses not to use it then we should respect that. You point out something logical about the need for preplanning a complicated system. I say something like its safer and none of that is necessary if the gas is just brought to the plant...this isnt really about rights and community planning.

Natural gas. We should argue about fossil fuels. You say its our energy and ceates jobs. Ill complain that these oil companies are primarily owned and run by the kind of scumbags that would ally with a Bush and manipulate the market to screw consumers. Now you say thats maybe so but at least its not money going to scumbags in Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Are we really understanding though? Cant see the forest for the trees maybe. Im sure we arent supposed to notice that a veritable Legion of Doom of the worlds most evil rich and powerful has assembled as the board of BEV. Good thing theyre green. Hey, speaking of green, did you notice that Branson is pulling in favors to start solar projects? Have you heard much about the Clintons and friends (like Epstein) being the beneficiaries of a international slush fund that plans to connect the Carribean in a vast solar energy network? (Those amazing Clintons, is there anything they cant do?) Are these mega investors prepositioning themselves for something. Does the petrodollar really have stage IV? Why the stomping of crypto-currencies while talking about reforming or deleting the Fed? Why are other nations buying so much gold? Talk of returning to a hard backed currency...

This is a poison crumb thrown to squabbling chickens while someone is making off wth the whole loaf.

San Jose is going to eventually be a city state county all mashed into one like San Fran. It already claims to be the capital of a mess of communities all claiming a piece of the history of the dusty old valley. There is construction activity galore occurring all across the valley. Not sure city leaders have a clue but I’d wager they all got fat campaign coffers after selling downtown SJ to the high bidders of techdom. Who needs natgas when you have gasbags like them running things?

“”And where does California get their electricity? More than half of it comes from… wait for it... natural gas-fired plants.””

I was going to ask what they’ll use for heating and cooking. Lots of luck, folks. Guess they’ll go back to bonfires and wood stoves?
