Apologize?! You think after all the people who apologized, but whose careers were ruined for some supposedly offensive remark and apology be damned, you get a do-over? Hell, no! McBride has to resign, just like Trent Lott did. Just like Roseanne lost control of her hit show. Just like George Allen's apology wasn't accepted for saying "macaca". She can take her putative apology, and Robin Vaughn and George Muschel's "explanation"-s and stick it up Ilhan Omar's a$$. No prisoners.

I believe her comment Jew down was more in reference to negotiating...
Boy if I had a dime for every time I used the phrase “Jew down”...I wouldn’t have a dime :)
I’m sure it’s offensive but I’ve never heard it before and not quite sure what it means.
But the important thing here is that it’s getting more easy and more common to insult Jews again and get away with it in 2019 thanks to Omar et. al. /s
2 percent of the population and people can’t just leave em be.

I knew someone who used that phrase as “chew her down”. He seemed surprised when I explained what he was really saying and that some might find it offensive.

On a related note, I'm surprised that Pelosi, or the Cuomo Bros. Andrew and Fredo haven't yet chided Herman Cain for his associaton with GODFATHER'S Pizza, since that name could evoke negative Italian stereotypes.

How about if we all go to work and use the term ‘jew down’ three times a day for the next three weeks??

In 1993 a coworker of mine used this expression to a customer. He was fired. Location was Southern California. The customer was Jewish.

If the person who said this is a democrat they'll spin it as a compliment to Jews for being shrewd business 'persons' and the whole thing will just go away.

I used to hear this decades ago, among high school friends. They are more enlightened now. Have not heard it in more than 30 years. It is not complimentary, that is for sure.

When my father died some years ago, my family was sitting shivah when a neighbor of my mother’s stopped by to pay her respects. The conversation turned to her daughter trying to buy a house and she mentioned that her daughter was trying to “Jew the seller down”. She looked up and saw our expressions and said “Oh I guess I shouldn’t have said that.” Of all places to use that term.

I had business partners who were Israelis once...there is no doubt they were very good at whittling a deal down
I left that aspect of our endeavors to them and more than once was happy i was on the same side of the table
Its a compliment to me honestly
Jews
Arabs especially Lebanese
Armenians
Turks
Scots
Greeks
Indians to a degree
Koreans
Just a few ethnic groups known to drive a hard bargain
Tempest in a teapot and sure isnt some clarion call for genocide
I respect the notion. I have a Jewish partner in a California investment , in fact hes shotcaller while hes proven hes loyal and honest with me repeatedly when it cost him to do right yet hes no fool about costs in running the actual business
Im good with that ..

It’s OK, they’re all Democrats. They can’t be anti-Semitic, just ask them and their media flunkies. Only Trump and the GOP can be anti-Jewish.

True story.
My sisters first grade teacher calls my mom and asks, “ Mrs. Smith, I'm a little confused. I thought your family was Catholic but your daughter tells me different. She said you are Jewish.”
So my mom asks my sister why she would say such a thing and my sister says, “Well, I always hear you telling people how dad is always trying to Jew people down on prices”.
Needless to say, we still tell that story to embarrass my sister!

So, is she going to Welch on her apology? Does that make her an Indian giver, or just her being niggardly with sincerity?
